The old argument of if your not happy leave and ignore it - glad Winston was not like that our Europe would be dominated by the Nazi Party. I just hope I always stay in the "if you don't like it try to change it" camp its less selfish and more enriching, and ultimately more rewarding.

"i have an urge to mention how strange it is that posties are going for jobs where they sit on their backsides most of the time for their money...but ill resist and keep it to myself.. "

Probably because its easier to deal with all the crap you get from management, etc, when you dont have to follow that up with 3+ hours of trudging around in the rain, with a bag thats just about to split open, up hill, in some manky council esate :p A lot easier to fume when youre sitting on your arse :D

TBT & Dirty Harry,
I'm not leaving because of the job, but our office. Can't say too much, but I've been the recipient of B&H for almost 2 years now. That's why I'm getting out. Yeah, I don't like the way the company's going, but I do still like the job. I will be sad to leave, but won't be sad to leave some of the people in our office! I'll just be glad to go into a place where I can get on with everyone again as I did in our office before the select few started their campaign against me.

Saru you have a good reason for leaving in that you want to, nothing at all wrong with that and can I wish you luck in your next job. It is sad that you have been effectively bullied out of a job you like and that to me is unacceptable, but is a symptom of the way Royal Mail is being run from the top. However, your well being and happiness is more important than anything and for that I commend you for making a brave decision to leave a job you like.

My sentiment is directed at those members of the public, and a few on here, who say if you think things are wrong you should leave and accept it, but I myself feel that for me I would rather try and change things from the inside rather than the outside. If we all accepted the argument of leave if you don't like it then women's Suffrage would not have as successful as it was,. Children would still be working in mills and mines, because, after all if the Unions and workers who had not accepted this state of affairs had just left, instead of acting against that injustice, nothing would have changed for the better.

I am in no way comparing our current position to children working, we are well beyond that stage, however the sentiment remains the same, if you don't like a situation either leave if you wish or stay and fight to accept it. Your decision Saru is good for you personally and though you are leaving, you are not accepting the situation, merely leaving and trying to make your situation better.

What, in my stumbling way, I am trying to say is that your reason to leave is just as good as mine to stay, perhaps even better. But just to accept a situation people see as wrong and decide to do nothing about it but turn your back on it, that to me is indefensible. Basically my stance is if a certain action benefits you and your immediate family then that is the choice you should take, be that to stay and fight, or to leave and make the situation better both are positive steps. But to leave and ignore it just because someone else thinks that's the right thing to do, sorry that's not in my make up.

I hope you see what I am trying to say. Make a positive decision (which you did) rather than a negative decision (which is what some mean when they say if you don't like it leave).

TBT & Dirty Harry,
Thanks for the support.
I have fought for the last 2 years, I've had numerous dirty tricks played against me & lies told about me. Unfortunately, RM have taken the stance that because it is several against me (several who have had no hesitation in lying to save their skins), then the majority must be right & now I am seen as a trouble maker. If standing up for what is right & true makes me a trouble maker, then so be it. Now I'm tired of fighting & getting nowhere. I look at some of the evidence I've shown management & wonder how the hell they can't see what is going on. They obviously don't want to. As I say, I have a good case for constructive dismissal & if I can, by this action, stop this happening to others then it is worth doing.
I would rather that the previous two years had never happened, but I am not the first to be drummed out of our office for standing up to these people. What I am determined to do is make them think twice before they try it on anyone else!

saru. I had very similar in a previous employment, but all that is now behind me and I am happy with my current job. Much depends on the work colleagues you find yourself with, it's just a matter of chance whether they are the biggest shower of bastards you'll ever meet or a decent crowd you can consider as friends.

Saru get in touch with one of those Women's magazines , they don't just do stories about women , as long as you're RM horror stories can stand up to challenge , their journalists will knock something out .

All's fair in love and war , it's a good way of torpedoing that shower , who's going to believe a parroted out RM statement ? against your accounts ?

d!ont do it,i implore you for the sake of your sanity.as a bus driver you will enjoy variable starting times, one day start at 0400,next day start at 1100 and so on,not forgetting split shifts 4 hours on,3 hours off,4 hours on,including sundays and bank holidays, driving a bus is not too bad, most are auto.only problem is you have to pick up joe public, the massed multitude of mindless morons.some will want to stab you, some will want to spit on you, some will want to verbally abuse you, some will be nice to you{even the nice ones will hate you when you are 30 mins late}driving in the southeast can only get worse with the increasing volume of traffic.other road users hate you and your bus, they must beat the bus at all costs and will cut you up somethin rotten,as you stop at a road junction darling children will open your doors and throw fire works or dog s### on the bus.not forgetting vehicle checks,be aware of dirty sharps down the side of seats, and vomit.joe public will run in front of your bus, hitting a member of the public at 30 mph will freak you out, they usually come through the screen and make a terrible mess.should this happen you can have a 3 month rest with pay.bus depot managers are far worse than royal mail managers, believe me.working as a postman is a hard job, working as a bus driver is impossible you will pray royal mail will take you back.

There are some valid points made here. I was once working with an ex-bus driver who constantly complained about the split shifts and arrogant employers who always thought that they were doing you a favour by employing you. If they got you through the PSV then you had to serve at least two years. More recently in the last couple of years a young woman who worked with my daughter went to be a bus driver and passed the induction and test and was employed as a local bus driver on single deckers but didn't last the two years. Still each to his own you may well enjoy doing it. My Dad was a long distance coach driver for many many years. Either way it will be your choice.
