Even deader last night, don't think our locker was too busy. Every shift made time, one shift by about an hour. That's been the deadest last shift before Xmas for a good few years

Royal Mail are seen as being so unreliable now people have just given up trusting their services. I found the busiest week was the Black Friday week.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Dec 2023, 06:14Even deader last night, don't think our locker was too busy. As a mostly DPR driver, the busiest week for me was Black Friday/Cyber Monday week, when I averaged 160 stops daily. However, the busiest single day was Thursday just gone, 21 December, when I delivered 194 parcels. Friday and today were much quieter/lighter, with Friday being 126 parcels and today being 105 parcels.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑23 Dec 2023, 15:41Me too parcel wiseNickvilla20 wrote: ↑23 Dec 2023, 07:24Royal Mail are seen as being so unreliable now people have just given up trusting their services. Xmas cards have been down massively. Normally over Xmas Pressure, most if not all CSS wave batches would be around 20 boxes each at the start of the night, with some having more, to the point where it's not practical to run it all in one hit. You'd get more being added as the porters bring stuff over from the iLSM. This year it's been around 16-18 box at most per batch at the start of the night.

Have to say our depot was also relatively quiet today but there was obviously a push to get rid of everything this week. Management and night staff were helping out prepping and delivering mail/packets with yet even more agency staff and hire vans brought in. In fact, there was almost a van for everyone so we managed just about to clear the office bar for a load of Crimbo cards and the last few weeks of D2Ds.
But even though we almost managed to deliver everything that came through to our office, I do wonder if we would have spent a lot less overall if the duties were more manageable. No disrespect to the agency staff as they couldn't possibly be expected to be up to speed with the regular posties but many of them were either only doing a few loops and bringing most of the stuff back or they were out working till 7pm and claiming extra hours which many regular posties were getting done within their contracted hours.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Confirmed tonight that we hit all of the targets, despite a last minute scare mid-week. A great Christmas, well planned for and delivered. Happy holidays to you all.
