Why have the figures for achieving both targets - USO deliveries and combined Tracked - got worse towards Xmas??

Week 1 46% of delivery units hit both targets
Week 2. 42%
Week 3. 40%
Week 4. 40%
Week 5. 32%
Don’t the targets change? It might also be due to sick. We have a lot of people off at the moment. Seasonal bugs are particularly nasty right now.
Why are you such a corporate RM sympathiser? Bizarre posts and behaviour considering this is an unaffiliated forum.
Well, Roy does pay their wages and thus give them a livelihood. It isn’t at all unusual to develop loyalty, even grudgingly, to one’s employer. And Roy is very special, of course ♥

But on the other side — and do enlighten us, please — why are you so obsessed with Roy? Very bizarre posts and behaviour considering you are an ex employee contributing so frequently to a forum intended for currently employed postmen, postwomen and postpeople.
Plenty friends still work at RM. Just telling it how it is for anyone not quite up to date on RMChat. :thumbup

Both letters i.e. Xmas Cards and parcels/packets increase the nearer we get to Xmas Eve, today was probably my DO's busiest day this year, so more Tracked etc will fail.

How am I sympathising with RM? I’m celebrating hitting the target and making extra cash for zero extra effort. Happy days. Money is the reason I go to work ultimately. You know, like when you used to work for RM.

His posts come across as increasingly bitter. It isn’t my fault he couldn’t hack the job. He probably doesn’t even work now, given how much time he spends on here.

Aye, I thought today was a bit manic as well. Oddly enough we also had 3 full trays of mech and they were nearly all Xmas cards so I wondered if the mail centre had been stockpiling the mail and just found the time to process it all?? Whatever, it didn't matter because the screws told us to leave that mail and just deliver any mail from the previous day if there was a Tracked parcel for that address.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

We had some mech yorks last night that were probably 90% Xmas cards so I don't know if RM have been holding a load at some central location. It's a lot quieter in general, think we were nearly back to normal staffing levels last night

Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday shifts :left: :thumbup
I will - and do - thanks. You don’t know what you’re missing! Unlike every other day of the week, the office is a very pleasant, comfortable and relaxed environment on a Sunday, with great laughs had. Our supervisor (an OPG for 35 years who works at a neighbouring office during the week) is a top fella. And Sunday deliveries are a doddle. Believe it or not, we actually have volunteers desperate to work Sundays as it is a much easier day’s work.

But in the absence of you providing even a smidgeon of info re your “new job”, coupled with your incessant contributions to this forum which must occupy several hours of your day, I am led to one conclusion: that don’t have one! Instead, I reckon you get up each day and put on your old RM uniform (on the pretence that everything else is in the wash) and then hover near the door so you can ambush your own postman, thence bending his ear for a whole 10 minutes about gossip you’ve read on RoyalMailChat.

Look, if you wanna be a bona fide member of the forum and to legitimately wear your old uniform your only route in is on a shitey contract. Enjoy your Saturdays and Sundays when they inevitably come for you!

Thought RM want to get rid of Saturday letter deliveries? If that ever happens then hopefully just the new contracts and the docket kings will be out delivering parcels on a weekend?

I'm not against a 5 day USO and having the weekends off as long as my duty is doable Monday to Friday.

Maybe smoothbackground and Loubarlow need to become forum adminstrators so they can cross check every forum member with their RM employee number so they can delete accounts the split second an individual ceases to be employed by RM.

It's dropped off a lot this week, all work areas apart from the SD locker are near enough back to pre-Xmas work loads. Casual numbers are just about back to normal. Not sure if they've ended all the Xmas casuals already

If they were both forum administrators then this chat would resemble the courier and not the real Royal Mail that we are all experiencing right now. The facts are that Royal Mail introduced a bonus incentive scheme with targets on Tracked and USO and most of them just like ours are failing miserably. That is a reflection of the imposed revisions that the leadership made earlier in the year and thousands of posties leaving the business.

Agreed. I learn a lot from this forum and how bad the job is in a lot of offices. It also makes me feel glad to work in a decent one. For now.
