The X Factor syndrome comes to the Post Office®
• Thousands of hopefuls want a part in new Post Office® ad
• Last chance to enter is Monday 31 March

Thousands of acting hopefuls have entered a competition to win a part in the next Post Office® advert in what being heralded as the LARGEST EVER online casting call.

Following the success of the last ad for Post Office® Broadband, which featured Ken the Postmaster (Early Doors actor John Henshaw) and top band Westlife, the applicants have been flocking to Ken’s MySpace page (www.myspace.com/postofficeken) to enter the competition and be in with a chance of getting in front of the camera .

Many famous people started their rise to fame in adverts including Patsy Kensit (Bird’s Eye peas), Nick Kamen (Levis), Jonathan Ross (Rice Krispies and Persil), Amanda Lamb (Scottish Widows), Howard Brown (Halifax) and Sharon Maughan and Anthony Head (Gold Blend).

Paul de Freitas of the Casting Directors’ Guild said: "Getting a part in a TV ad for a national institution like the Post Office® is a truly fabulous way of getting that first foot on the fame ladder. From ‘Friends’ star Matt Le Blanc to Hollywood actress Jodie Foster, many of today’s top personalities have turned the commercial break into their big break."

Post Office® head of broadband Stewart Fox-Mills said: "It’s fantastic that so many people want to appear in the Post Office’s® new ad. Looking at the applicants, I’m also thrilled to see that people from all walks of life are discovering more about the Post Office® through the internet, long may it continue!"

The success of Ken’s MySpace page and the record number of applications for this competition marks an important watershed in the Post Office’s® transition into the digital market.

There are around 14,000 Post Office® branches in the UK which is more than all the supermarkets added together. However, around 50 per cent of its financial services products - such as pet and car insurance - are sold online. In recent months the Post Office® has completely revamped its website to make the online purchase of these products and services easier, and has launched a brand new broadband service. The Post Office® website now has 13 million unique users a year.

To enter the competition, visit www.myspace.com/postofficeken. Entrants must be UK residents aged 18 and over. They must sign up as a friend of Ken Dawson on myspace.com. Deadline for entries is midnight on 31 March 2008.

Celebrity Obsessed Sheep Dumb Britain

The no expense spared RMG spin machine is working well ??, the rest of us just see campaign against this SPO being closed down signs in the front windows or read articles about closure in the media .

No doubt there will care in the community wannabes that want to star in another advert filmed in a closed sub post office that was then converted into a bathroom shop .

The people that go on myspace as "friends " which is so last year anyway, tend to be solely concerned with self promotion .

Hardly a surprise though , Jordan is barely 30 but she's already had two autobiographies published and a "novel", a reviewer said he'd never read so much self obsessed , boring , rambling , repetitive , self pitying rubbish in his life , there's other literary masterpieces about Wayne Rooney and other overpaid underperforming England players , god knows what they put into them and then there's the likes of Jade & Coleen McLaughlin .

Still they might end up in the bargain bin and cure insomnia better than anything from the Chemists ?

Here's the scenario:

"Postman saunters with fully laden prop bag containing cotton wool and 2 letters"

"Approaches Town Hall steps with some purpose"

"Large crowd gathers with placards saying "Save our Postie and Post Offices".

"Postman turns his back on the crowd and exposes posterior showing tattoo "Kiss it mugs, Signed The Management"

"Rolling credits FU Knobheads, Take your custom elsewhere"

"Fade to Black"

I could be the stunt arse but I'm not having another tattoo. :angel

Shows how much RM are behind the times, who remembers a few years back in The Courier they asked us lot if we wanted to be in an ad.
When the ads came out they had real Posties in it,how bout doing it again, how about a 'Halifax' ffs.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
