  • Option A: Listen to the workers; Acknowledge the grievances; Measure and redo the walks to be fair; Stop the B&H; Fix the broken and grotty vans and stinking bags (when wet); Get a uniform and PDAs that work; Staff the offices correctly, etc.
  • Option B: Offer a tiny bit of cash (with lots of strings attached) to gloss over all of the issues facing us and hope they can increase performance in the short-term.
Personally, I'd prefer option A. Perhaps I am crazy though.

It does seem to be a publicity stunt as has been mentioned. This way RM can say they tried to incentivise the work force so Offcom and the public won't blame them when yet another Xmas is a shambles due to bad management!

The CWU are going along with it as always because they want to make out they have actually achieved something when in reality they haven't.... again! :Boo hoo!
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

In MCs over Xmas Pressure, what one shift can't manage to do, gets rolled over to the next shift. We've not got any hope of getting the local part. The National part, no one is getting that in either MCs or DOs.

I've heard that some packet and Tracked streams are forecast to double, maybe over the absolute maximum capacity of some MCs so it's literally going to be a case of getting any sorted mech and manual letters, Tracked and normal packets (both small and large) out the door and off to the DOs the moment that there's a lorry loads worth of work

We can't help them out and they know it. It's a s**t show now, who knows what November/December is going to be.

There's a clear top to bottom issue with RM right now, the unachievable workload, poor management., staff leaving and sickness management, it's obvious to everybody where the problem lies except to the top tier who only see share prices.

There is a mass exodus of staff and new starters quitting as soon as they've started, pretty soon the company will collapse and share priices will be meaningless, those same top men will be out of a job as shareholders demand answers.

With the way things are going and low public confidence in a once great institution, the whole brand will go extinct unless something drastic is done.

In my opinion, senior management are corrupt liars, charlatans and are nothing but selfish and greedy bullies. Nothing will improve within RM until they are all gone. They are completely untrustworthy. Dangling a paltry, unachievable carrot in front of the minions won't rescue Christmas and you know full well that they have their excuses ready for the failure it's going to be. Get yourselves ready because it'll yet again be everyone else's fault,, except their own. They have destroyed the company through their own greed

Got to agree with that. Will be in the newspapers that posties getting £500 to make sure everything is delivered nothing about all the strings attached or what’s required to get it.

If royal mail was serious they could of offered enhanced overtime rates to encourage anybody that was interested to to work beyond their finish time but no they present the workforce with this joke our manager told us this morning out of the 11 walks they have removed in the last two months 3 will be put back in by monday plus another 3 in january.

Just in the job 2 weeks. Was in my last for 23 years so semi retired. I’m honestly amazed I’ve lasted this long. Never been in a workplace like it. It’s like slave labour. It appears the staff have no rights whatsoever and are just getting on with it. All very strange indeed.
