Sorry, apologies I've only been with RM for several years (5+). I thought a DOM AND A COM were the same thing? Just a different job title?

We've a manager who I assumed was a DOM. What's a COM and what's a lino?

I stand to be corrected, but my understanding is
DOM-Delivery Office Manager
COM-Customer Operations Manager
LIno-Line manager
dom used to oversee line managers
Com has no oversight except area manager on the end of the phone(therefore no boss in the building)

As I understand it, units with multiple COMs (3 or more) will no longer have a Lead COM, they will instead have a DOM who will oversee the unit in exactly the same way as the DOM used to oversee Line Managers.

Small units will not get a DOM. They'll be run by their COM or Lead COM as present.

Workplace Coaches have no bearing on this at all. However the Workplace Coach role is being 'relaunched' with mandatory retraining for all in the role.

It would beggar belief that a business that spent a fortune to make many DOMs redundant and as much again to give line managers a hefty wage rise to make them COMs would then reverse that decision a year later. However this is Royal Mail.

Workplace coaches, dont make me laugh everytime you ask them a question they haven't got a clue and they pay them an extra £30 and get them to take out new starters you couldn't make it up ,you have to keep an eye on them a foot in both camps .

One would hope it's a sign of nascent cognition in whatever brain is in charge of these things, though there's just as much chance the monkeys in the decision room started flinging their faeces at a different chart on the wall.
The machine stops.

When I started 5 years back, we had a particularly butch DOM (Lovely though).

I couldn't believe the staff got away with calling her the Dom, as I'd assumed it was a nickname due to her fitting the description of a 'dominant' in a relationship

Took me well over a year to make sense of it :d'oh!

When I first started I thought 'Dom' was just short for Dominic. Took me a while before I realised his name was Kevin.
