I became a father for the first time today and I am over the moon! Plus two weeks off work on paterninty leave!

Stick that last minute birth in your pipe and smoke it Royal Mail!

Congratulations but just wait until the night feeds and nappy changes and the no sex (or maybe that was just me :d'oh! ) for the foreseeable future :wink:

Mum's still recovering but fine. Young lass totally fine though, weighed in at hefty 9.5 pounds! No doubt the R.M will be eyeing her up for a part time duty though! :Very Happy

I hardly think it is "off topic" - your post has served to remind those who read it of the fact that we have very important and valuable lives outside of the business we work in, things that we can love and cherish which are much more important than the political and business complexities that blight our every attempt at bettering our standard of living.

Your two weeks off to be with your family at this most important time was fought for and won by determined people who saw the value in family life. Every moment will be precious from now on and sadly the benign conditions that allowed me time with my children as they grew up no longer exist in our business - make sure you know your rights and put your family needs first - someone else can always take that other bag of mail !!!
