I've heard that they're cracking down on lorry drivers in MCs in the South-West region so I'd imagine that they'll also do the same in the other regions. It's only a matter of time before they also do so in network and processing in MCs. Looks like RM want their pound of flesh after the lump sums

RM clearly said to the select committee that PDA's were not being used to monitor postpersons performance. :cuppa
It was in the 'deal of the century' that everybody with a low IQ voted for. They can now use PDAs against you, it's why they're clamping down on speeding, idling and being stationary.

The PDA app has nothing to do with any of that.
It's not the PDA that is monitoring your driving.
All it does is show us what management already see on the trimble system.

All of the data on all of the My Doorstep app is already available to managers through separate systems. The only difference is we can now see it too.

What you could argue about the new app is that it's a form of psychological bullying making your mistakes visible to you but you don't have to interact with it.

Wait while there are meaningful conversations to be had between the manager and the postie in relation to it!!

Again the "meaningful conversation" would be driven by the already existing data produced by SISO, Trimble or PDA Actuals, not the My Doorstep App in itself which is only a platform to show that data to us.

I've a feeling they will make you. I will go further, I think it will help Royal mail in that colleagues will be invariably contributing to their own dismissals!

lol. At 3:28 in the video they have someone scanning the wrong barcode. We are always told to scan the 2D code (square barcode).

That's a fail right there....on a performance related video.

The video doesn't even explain what data will be on the app for us to see. Is it walking speed? Is it any missed scans?

The more you do the job correctly - the slower you will be - the less work you will get done. We all know managers main issue with us is always speed - we all know they want us to take shortcuts. I doubt many managers will have time to bother us and have performance meetings.

At about 00:27 seconds into the video the guy's thumb actually taps on a part of the screen that isn't a button and therefore will not do anything. He's clearly been given a PDA and told to "click about".

And they didn't do a great job of proofing the captions (Thanks for watching!)...

If its speed on delivery i want age categories in there just like they do for marathons,a 59 year old will not move as quickly as a 20 year old.

Most people walk faster than they should have to, cut corners; doorstep, walk across people's lawns, skip van checks, leave deads to the side for another day, etc etc etc....

including myself, because we are keen to get as much work done as possible and know managers will be on our backs about speed....

YET.....

Managers will still tell us we are too slow. Therefore they clearly want us taking these shortcuts. They clearly want us rushing round.

When you are already saving 20-30mins a day cutting corners and walking at a good speed, what else can you do when a manager questions your speed. At that point your manager is pushing you into speeding, rushing round too fast that you have an accident, signing for things....

This company is ridiculous...

Then they bring out some performance app which is probably mainly about scanning.

They don't care about you cutting corners, they only care about speed and speed only, unless a lot of parcels are going missing.

PDAs became operational after the deal was voted in? Fascinating theory.

I'm 100% faster than my day off cover. They might have trouble having a performance chat with him as he doesn't exist.

The majority of offices are short staffed. Anyone thinking they will use this data to force people out is deluded. They need to retain staff at this point.
