RMCtv : Yorks - onsite white sleeve repairs
We need to get as many yorks as we can back into our operation – to keep our network running swiftly and smoothly.
Completing any repairs to yorks on site means that we can do this in a timely way and ensures we don’t have a build-up of yorks out of service.
Do you have yorks that need repairs?
Then for further guidance, see our Standard Operating Procedures for replacing the Velcro dots and rivets attached to the gate / door - SOPYS10, SOPYS11A and SOPYS11B.
In addition we have sent out:
White sleeve repair packs with 500 replacement Velcro dots and 500 replacement rivets
A set of snap fastening pliers to assist with the rivets.
Contact sharon.holt@royalmail.com to reorder replacement Velcro dots or rivets.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Falling apart already? Who could have predicted it (Mystic Meg or even Septic Peg). And now we're fixing locally with Velcro (sorry Hook and Loop) dots??

Can't say they were not advised that the yorks were unsuitable. Now it seems with Christmas approaching panic is setting in. We are being trained to fix straps & told to use plastic yorks with the sleeve door missing for large boxes.

Unless the physical york itself is damaged they'll just be used for trays and large if the door is broke. Now that traffic is starting to pick up, we don't have the time to waste repairing them. They'll just be sent off to wherever we send damaged yorks off to.

Another great idea by some one who has never done the job a day in their life. We all know why they use this crap because it's cheap. Well...you get what you pay for. Now if only we had those red sleeves which served the business well for many many years, nah thats to simple an idea.

Amazed they didn't come up with the idea of wrapping paper just like we used to with our school textbooksVeteranBitterPostie wrote: ↑30 Sep 2023, 21:37Another great idea by some one who has never done the job a day in their life. Some of them you have to remove the door to be able to fit trays into it. A normal 2 by 2 by 5 stack of trays physically take up all the room, leaving no room for the folded in door

i work were these sleeves are made and fitted....i think there ok FOR THE JOB DESIGNED which i and others were led to believe were to be sent to business to be filled with parcels and on return to the hub put through the robot tippers so securing a 100% tip rate.
that said seems to work ok and as expected.
sending them out through mail centres and delivery offices was stupid.
its the rest of the use that doesnt seem to be right.....there not meant for trays...there supposed to be parcels omly
there stupid for manual emptying and we have to do a lot of bending and lifting to empty them.....no we dont use shovels mainly because it large parcels we get in them.
did everybody know the way there made......cutting machines and computers and alike....3 shifts (so nearly 24hr a day) making them constantly with about 10 people per shift...including somebody in charge so higher wage.
and stupidly so they cant get employees to do this so the majority of the workers are agency...on 15-17 quid and hour
any lower manager agrees there useless but have to toe the line with bosses above.....we regularly report cuts to ppl or damages in the yorks but it gets sweeped under a very large rug.
the static shocks can hurt....reported and they say ohhhh yeah the assemblers of the yorks get the same LOL

Absolute garbage equipment.
Cuts you to shreds from the top.
Also, after a few weeks, they start to bow outwards from the bottom, leaving parcels to fall through and out onto the floor.
No doubt someone in the boardroom is benefiting from these sleeve contracts.

While I was still at my DO I was the only OPG using the snow shovel to do IPS (parcels)
Absolute joke from the top down. Nobody cares. RM is run and staffed by clowns who only care about themselves.

Re: RMCtv : Yorks - onsite white sleeve repairs
Up till now we've only had to use them for small packets/Tracked now we've got no choice but to start using them for large parcels/Tracked and mech and manual letters and flats. To get the trays in we have to take the door off

repairing them is not a problem but waiting over a week for supplies to arrive to do the repairs is, meanwhile broken sleeves are still getting used doors or no doors
