No it was verbally by a manager reading from a laptop. The WAM didn't even know what the brief was about until the first brief was given.

Which MCs are affected? I'm guessing a good few will be from the MCs that surround where the hub is located. RM need to axe the use of casuals first

The RDC where I work has been told this week a reduction in staff and hours will be from January 2024.

The following order was related;
Agency staff
Overtime
Requests for reduction in hours or Voluntary Redundancy.

Read that RM have 37 Mail Centres, There are 7 RDC's - Don't know if all will be affected!

From what I understand it's all MC's. I suppose it depends on how many surplus they have from the last round of VR's. The number I've been told in our MC is 34 and like on another post it starts January 2024.

It works out about 18-19 per MC if you assume the cuts get split evenly across MCs only. I reckon early shifts will bare the brunt of the loses as the new hub is bound to grab all the 2C and T48 packets from at least all the surrounding MCs

A thread elsewhere suggests that there’s 1000 resignations a month, oh to be one of the lucky 700 !

Before I left the company earlier this year I was told by one of the MC shift managers that the last round of VRs hadn't achieved the cut in hours the company wanted, and I don't know if the issues with people refusing to agree to new duties, were sorted out, so news of more redundancies is not unexpected. I wonder if the terms this time around will be better this time around, now the union is back on board with the company than the ones I accepted?

1 of Warrington MC, Manchester MC, Preston MC and Chester MC are in Royal Mails terminology ..... "surplus to requirements" in the North West and 1 of them will be shutting if RM gets its way. Given that in the recent past Liverpool MC and Crewe MC have been closed I wouldn't be surprised if this "rumour" was true.

Any idea how big each of them is and what machines each of them has?

This was leaked & posted on our WhatsApp group on Wednesday (20th), forcing management to arrange shift meetings on Thursday.
Given that the preference exercise is due to start on Monday 25th, I wonder when they planned to tell us this stuff if their hands hadn’t been forced ?
