That's the reality of a private company. It's s**t but no amount of banging the drum and crying foul will change that.
I'm not asking you to sing The Red Flag, but quit humming The White Flag.

She won’t be the business secretary in a few months after the election, so it’s irrelevant what she says.
Is the election not due at latest end of January 2025? It'll all change after that
i think its in May

Facing reality is not surrendering.
Living in an alternate reality wasting your time undermining your own union and colleagues and dreaming of a revolution while the business laughs at your internal squabbling definitely is.

In order to do anything about where we are we have to first understand and accept where we are, there are too many on here trying to fight battles that are already lost because it's easier and more popular on social media to moan about what we've lost than fight for what we still have.

Good point, i can't see harsh words having much impact on the company.

So no fight, no push back, nothing but a slow erosion of what little we have, until you have to pay them for the pleasure of working for them.
Not much of a plan is it.
All you so called union men/women should be prepared to put some sort of effort to save your jobs, because that's where this will all end, the union know it but are too busy playing footsie with the company to care.
I am no dye in the wool leftie, i have been a shop steward and taken my workers out on strike, even though i argued against it, i have never really believed in strikes, instead use work to rule as the ultimate weapon for companies run on o/t like RM is, but the workforce said strike so strike it was.
Nearing retirement i have watched as a lot of different industries have fallen to "modernisation" and the search for more money and all to a man have put up more fight than us.
Didn't make any difference in the long run, but they showed some mettle. Job cuts will come and the demise of the USO with it, some of you will still be here, some not.
Plan B was the call before the great vote "Where's your plan B" so where exactly is your plan B now CWU because plan A smells pretty bed.

We could start by supporting our union, the only genuine weapon we actually have rather than trying to undermine it at every opportunity.

We could start by remembering that a union is built from the bottom up and any fightback has to start in your office not on Facebook, Twitter or on here.

We could start by remembering that trade union values are the antithesis of the polemic populist shite that a lot of people promote on social media.

We could start the fight by actually starting to fight back at local level instead of letting managers roll you over and then bleating that HQ has sold you out.

We could take this poor agreement and try to get the very best out of it that we can for our members ... or we can continue to moan and whine, weaken the union even further and tilt at some more windmills.

Woody, we ALL (well almost all) supported our union...we went out on strike for it. We ALL believed in the dispute....what they came back with changed all that....i am still behind them but to say i am disappointed is the understatement of the year. They have alienated a hell of a lot of members and tbh i cant see us ever winning another dispute ever again...they wont get another strike vote...they surrendered.

Not saying I disagree but the CWU postal executive have repeatedly blocked ‘rule 13’ strike votes this year especially over the victimisation and sacking of reps. Local walkouts and strike ballots have been suppressed by Dave Ward and Andy Furey. How else can a fight back start at local level if they have not got their backing?

The problem is that we did believe in the union, that's why most of us went on strike. Only for the union to turn around and saying, "you know what? Actually, we do agree with some of the things Royal Mail have been after such as five day service and moving the hours forward," despite on numerous occasions on interviews and online saying the s**t made absolutely no sense whatsoever. This agreement is just more salt in the wound, especially what we did during the pandemic which by Royal Mail is concerned was worth just a measly 2% increase and 8% for trading the terms and conditions. This isn't even mentioning the other ongoing issues with other parts of the company with the reps and the Fleet.People have every right to be pissed off with this union, especially in the sorry state it's in now after the agreement.

All the union have done so far is just mouth off on the sidelines how the company ain't listening to what they are saying, which mind you every single member could see a mile away whilst they steamroll through even before the agreement. I'm now seeing people that genuinely loved the job become stressed and completely angry every day all in the short space of these last few months. It's okay saying making the best out of a bad situation, but this is nonessential at this point with new people not even lasting a week on these shitter conditions. Not sure what your office is like, but between both the strikes and the pandemic combined, THIS is by far the worst state I've ever seen it.
