Royal Mail Spokesperson
Every single day in the news stories a Royal Mail spokesperson says ‘We don’t prioritise parcels over Mail’
This blatantly happens in every part of the country. The CWU doesn’t stop this from happening, majority of OPGs including myself are complicit in prioritising tracked/parcels over mail at our frames. I’m fed up with this corruption. When I joined RM you had to be honest and trustworthy. Today the government said no to cutting the USO. What happens if you refuse to prioritise any form of mail. Has anyone tried it as an office?

Just turn up on time, do what is asked of you then go home and don’t give the job another thought. If you start worrying about every minutia of this job now, you will go mad with stress. As you say, it is beyond corrupt now and concerned with prioritising profit over performance and wellbeing of staff, so just look after yourself and ignore everything else. It is just a job.

Re: Royal Mail Spokesperson
We have always prioritised Special Deliveries over everything else so what is new?
Given the amount of failed parcels and letters in our DO it is hard to see what if anything is being prioritised.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This goes beyond your normal run of the mill job. It's completely bonkers. No wonder they can't get new recruits to stay. INSANE!!! At least we were drip fed and its still beyond reasonable.

The difference is we've never made a secret of specials being prioritised. With prioritising parcels it's not the fact that they choose to do it, it is the fact that they constantly lie to everybody about itWe have always prioritised Special Deliveries over everything else so what is new?

I am not sure why you all worry about what gets delivered and when, we are employed for a certain amount of hours and how the employer fills those hours are up to them, i hate saying it because i am agreeing with Lou but that's where we are.
The days where we had pride in our jobs and the service we provided are over, the government or ofcom don't care otherwise they would have them hauled over the coals, and that isn't happening.

I've returned loops including tracked a few times, nothing has been said. Last week we really struggled and one day brought 8 or 9 tracked items back, they went out with the afternoon packet people, again nothing was said

Re: Royal Mail Spokesperson
That’s the point I was trying to make. We constantly lie about prioritising parcels over mail. It’s got the stage of friends constantly phoning me to see if I could get their mail as they are desperately looking hospital appointments etc. it’s just not right and yes I come in on time, never work over but feel complicit in the lies a RM spokesperson tells the media up and down the country.oypostie wrote: ↑20 Sep 2023, 16:04The difference is we've never made a secret of specials being prioritised. Martin Walsh is vocal on here, what is your union doing to address these lies constantly being told to every media outlet in the country?

Re: Royal Mail Spokesperson
My point is we are all complicit in this corruption, that’s the bit that I don’t feel comfortable with. I definitely don’t go over or beyond for this company but I watch every single person in my unit including union rep prioritise parcels over mail every single day. Surly this lie needs addressed by someone.LouBarlow wrote: ↑20 Sep 2023, 14:27Just turn up on time, do what is asked of you then go home and don’t give the job another thought. This is the world we live in now; Trump, Brexit, Johnson and the tories have twisted our realities to the point where a company like Royal Mail can lie and gas light as they please, because this is what we are all used to now.

Re: Royal Mail Spokesperson
Well maybe some of us find it slightly perturbing that we are supposed to deliver all the mail each day, yet this isnt happening. Birthday/anniversary cards and nhs letters can sit in frames for days or maybe go for a journey in the van then get brought back.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑20 Sep 2023, 16:35I am not sure why you all worry about what gets delivered and when, we are employed for a certain amount of hours and how the employer fills those hours are up to them, i hate saying it because i am agreeing with Lou but that's where we are.

Tracked packets are prioritised to the point where basic 1st and 2nd class, including Recorded, can sit at the back of yorks for sometimes over a week or more . . . and this can include medical equipment, medications, birthday presents etc
Its not right.
