Just a heads up, new message on the people app.

Any carried over leave from last year has to be booked and used by 31/8/24 (by 31/8/25 if you carried over more than 3 weeks)

Any carried over leave not used by that date will be lost.

I would say so, the Fire Brigade Union has just lost a case, the ruling was Annual Leave is Annual so no right to carry over. The only problem will come when RM want to flat line the leave, making not enough leave slots to take it all.

Lol they're a joke...don't want you to carry over annual leave but make it virtually impossible for you to book any addition ad-hoc leave outside that crazy one-time-only window when you have to book most of next years allowance inside 2 weeks.

Also if you have leave booked between now and 18th December and have remaining leave hours not booked they will minus hours from this to cover the extra 24 mins a day.But if you have no remaining leave hours you will go into minus leave hours but don't worry this will be wiped out next april,how is this a fair and equal way to treat people

In my old office there is some posties with 500/1000+ hours of holidays banked. Also it was literally impossible to book even a single lieu day for a funeral. (posties are told to either swap their day off or divert from the walk and complete it after said funeral)

Same here I had 26hrs virtually impossible to use them though just get fobbed off. Doesn't seem to matter anyway now, as i went into hospital when I came out after a week off they all disappeared. Absolute joke!

I always keep a few days back for emergencies, funerals etc. what’s the problem with that ? I fully understand those that have built up numerous weeks having to use it but no need to effect everyone.

Just tell whoever sorts your leave that you are no longer willing to carry over your annual leave and will require it in the current holiday year, regardless of availability or when they can give you. You have a legal right to take your annual leave during the current leave year, it doesn’t matter that they are understaffed or are losing a million hours a day in holiday/sick.

Royal Mail can tell you when to take your leave, what they can’t do is deny you it. It’s ridiculous and sad to hear people carrying over hundreds of hours, no one seems willing to educate themselves on what they can and can’t do.

As a result I do not carry over any hours and actually owe RM a small number of hours.

If I was sceptical, I would say this is just another cost saving exercise.

Rather than having several hundred Posties leave each month with varying amounts of holiday entitlement; to be paid in full.

Ensuring Posties don't accumulate leave, means Royal Mail will cut costs.

We all know that in today's Royal Mail, leave booked, isn't always covered and even if it is partially covered Royal Mail will still have reduced costs.
