6.4.3 Leaving Royal Mail through Ill Health (LTBIH)

Where employment with Royal Mail comes to an end due to ill health and the employee
meets the criteria for LtBIH with lump sum, they would receive a fixed compensation
payment of 16 weeks’ compensation. In addition, the employee will receive a payment in lieu
of notice and a payment in lieu of any accrued but untaken annual leave.
This change will apply to ill health compensation payment authorised on/after 1st August
2023.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Non taxable lump sum= £8384
Then your pilon payment(taxed) which is up to 12 weeks.
Any annual leave that you have accrued in the working year.
And if you take IHR before the lump sum payments are due this month. You will still be entitled to those lump sum payments.

This was requested for myself. Had to chase the doctor up to get them to send report back but once that was sent back all was sorted pretty quickly! So glad to be out now! Sad as it was an enjoyable job for a lot of years! Hope things improve for everyone that stays!

I fear things will change dramatically when 17th september comes around when all records are transferred to ( health matters) the new OH provider , I recently had a referral to optima through my manager the tone from optima was very different from previous referrals, I was told any decision on my IHR would be through a discussion with my manager and HR if I would like any further assistance I should contact HR , how strange is that anyone else had a recent referral.

Update from yesterday I had another phone call from my manager now they are going down the route of offering ( covered conversion) this is to bypass IHR, looking at figures quoted it is not far of IHR am I missing something here? if they are offering nearly as much as IHR why put extra stress on yourself, also is it a cynical way of doing away with IHR does seem very weird that the union knows s**t all about this or do they?, the reduction to 16 weeks in the pay agreement has brought ( covered conversions) to the front of any conversation about leaving the business.before I get shot down YES you do get taxed on what you are offered has anyone else had one of these conversations?.

The bribe payment that you are happily pocketing? Utterly shameless hypocrite.
