Rugby: Postman stars in deaf rugby triumph

A POSTMAN who plays for Guildford Rugby Club has said he was "very proud" to win the man of the match award in just his second international appearance for England Deaf Rugby.

Kris Mannering, 30, from Farnborough, was the star of a 25-15 victory over Scotland on Sunday.

The fixture came just 10 days after his debut against Wales.

The 6ft 5in second row forward, who has moderate hearing loss, started playing rugby with Camberley Colts at the age of 18, and has been with Guildford since he was 20.

Mannering had also been a national level athlete at javelin and 200m, but is making his name as a star goal kicker having learnt about deaf rugby last year.

Good for him and rugby is supposed to be hard game for deaf people. I never play rugby at School.
