I heard today that it is to close, and a preference exercise is to go out to everyone, i believe there are 130 jobs under threat, and 35 EVRs on the table, and the 200 delivery people who are based on the site are to move to a new office on a INDUSTRIAL site near by, this info came from a CWU REP from the office it self. you can call the Branch office on 01782 285833 for the full details.

I've heard that Royal Mail only have the Wplverhampton premises on a ten year lease which is due to expire soon and will not be renewed as the site is too small, a new larger depot in Birmingham being planned. Is this so ?

Is it unrealistic taking into account the drop in mail, to expect us still to have the same number of MC's in 2 years ?

I'm not afraid to admit it scares the crap out of me, because once one shuts, then the process has started, and a precident has been set.

Canterbury MLO is to loose its 2nd class mail in August this year also looks like the mail centre is to close in the future with Dover OE on the final leg to close this year as well, staff have been briefed this week, new proposale is the early shift is to change over to Monday to Friday with an idea that the night shift is to cover saturday mornings first class post for delivery so you can imagine the mood of the office.

No need to be scared. All those DO posties who still take out two bags say it's all an RM scare tactic, and they should know. Mail volumes ain't dropping........... :arrrghhh
