I’m sure it’s more complicated than just dusting down mothballed rolling stock and launching it into Network Rail !

‘Technical difficulties at our new Midlands Hub last night meant some services departed later than expected. As a result, some mail due for delivery today in the following postcode areas may arrive later than expected: DN, HU, LN, S, CV, LE, MK, NN, CW, L, WA, WN, BL, M, OL, SK, G, KA, ML and PA.’

Looks as if the weekend shift also need to settle in.

Speaking to drivers there, biggest problem is ‘flow room’ that’s been created to manage every vehicle / trailer movement on the site, and operate the in/out gates. Mostly staffed by people new to the game and are still being trained - hopefully they’ll get better. Not having the automated gate system that was heralded has meant that it can take 5mins just to enter the site as got to be done via intercom. The flow room has all the power but is incompetent and doesn’t communicate. Feel most sorry for those working in there under their Poundshop managers, but I bet they’ll still get their bonuses !

Do them rejected ones get manually sorted on site or just shipped off to the nearest MC?

Think it gets taken to NDC site, which has been ticking over steadily for last couple of weeks. Different story next week - moving 600 staff back there as SuperHub failing so bad ! Many duties were told to unload at NDC last week, and next week an element of the cross docking will move back there too.

Will all MCs that lost work to the hub, be getting that work back? If so it'll be interesting to hear if them MCs staff up appropriately for getting all that workload back

Heard from a driver yesterday that, despite the problems at MSH, the migration of work from PRDC is still planned to go ahead in October.
That will test the ‘efficiency’ of the new hub, no doubt…

They’ll just throw contractors at it, apparently there were at least 50 at the MSH site last Friday at £1,000 a pop.

I noticed that a bin has now found its way onto the fuel island at MSH, getting someone to empty it occasionally may be a challenge too far though !
