Re: USO...lies.
May be if Royal mail provided a first class service in the first place like making sure every delivery (letters tracked specials)went out every day we would not be in this mess!!!! Because then the customer would trust to do it.

Re: USO...lies.
Everyone knows that a reduction in the USO will be inevitable at some point. The company are pushing for it by stealth NOW because they know that when the changes kick in after a few years, and they make a profit, the board might not be able to use it as a valid excuse to reduce service levels. Afaik Royal Mail don't have a reduced USO priced in to make a profit either; its mainly due to the changes in this deal along with employing cheap squaddies.
But I can see Royal Mail and Dave Ward (and his merry band of leaders) pushing for a 5 day USO by telling posties how beneficial it would be to have one Saturday off every fortnight or something, (they will still need staff to deliver the parcels) especially if staff are finishing later in the day on a Monday to Friday. It's unwritten in the script but is entirely implicit. The Union will say it will ensure a better quality of service or some b*llocks, even though the company have little intention of putting duties back to what they were. From what I've read, RM are more concerned with preventing staff from taking a break and using PDA data against them as to why they should be working every minute and there is no reason why they shouldn't complete duties that have over 2 million calls.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

We can’t even get everything cleared just now so how do you suppose we will manage it with an extra days worth of mail to deliver
And the d2d are a complete shambles taking over 3 weeks to clear in ours it will get worse as well
Hope the whole rotten business collapses

Re: USO...lies.
Problem is RM seemingly can't afford to offer a first class service, I doubt customers would send more letters if we did, basically sending letter is dying. I can''t recall when I last sent a letter!!

They'll sell it so well I think I'd prefer it went back to a six day job. No Saturdays off but every one was an early AM finish versus only 50% of your Saturdays being intolerable.postslippete wrote: ↑18 Aug 2023, 19:54But I can see Royal Mail and Dave Ward (and his merry band of leaders) pushing for a 5 day USO by telling posties how beneficial it would be to have one Saturday off every fortnight or something

Re: USO...lies.
yes as much as i hate or dont like things, sorry wording not the best here, i would never wish any company to fold, to many people and families involved to advocate for this
