WDO1256 Cars on delivery

Post by wdo1256 »

Thanks for the feedback and support.

I must point out the B & H was back in the mid 90s and not in the office I currently work at. But there still is the fear of being singled out in many ways. In most offices that I've worked in a major problem has been two posties do the same thing one will be pulled up the other won't.

Sorry I'm side tracking abit. My main point is ....

With this new idea of getting everyone to start later at 6-15 instaed of 5.30 would force me to leave my car at home as the bus services would be running. I would still insits on getting home for the children at 2.00pm like tommo said put the problem back to RM. Also my manager wants us to cover walks that are uncovered (S/L) during the summer by a kind of teamworking for no overtime. This would definately put the car back into the garage. No car how to i get to the uncovered walk ?

Our office had to re-introduce friday night - saturday morning because everyone was claiming overtime on saturday because we couldn't cope with the mail. The best way to hurt royal mail managers is via their budgets

Last week we had a gee up meeting for the NO vote attended by a full time union official.

He stated that by refusing to use your car, when you previously had, could be construed as industrial action.

Not an opinion I personally subscribe to but .........

Carrying on,what's the deal with him,how dare he say that!!
I've got the hump now!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yes I use my car. I won't store bags in the car but I use the car to get to the delivery.
Also as RM won't make toilet provision I have to have the car so that I can drive home to go to the toilet (It's always easeir for you lads)

Tasam -it is easier for RM if you don't make them build toiletting facilities into your delivery. It may be fine for you to go home to the toilet but what about a delivery officer who does't own a car, doesn't drive or simply refuses to use his/her car? Also you are using the feminine perogative for using the toilet when it is just as difficult for men - if you don't think so then justfy your statement.

You see it is always too easy to find personal justification for doing the wrong thing!

Post by madelin4 »

I was going to ask same thing, if they expect us to take on extra work in the summer and in my case prob loose my walk and be put all over the place where i dont know and end up being out longer anyway,,, what bout toilet?? i am female cant just find the nearest hedge like!!! its bound to be a health and safety issuse... when i dont know what im doing or where i am going sometimes stress kicks in and my nerves make me wanna go... any suggestions?

Speak to your Health and Safety rep about having whatever duty you are put risk assessed for the reasons you have stated - needing a toilet, possibly brought on by stress. He should thspeak to your line menager to have the duty checked.

When you speak about extra work are you refering to summer efficiency?
