I spoke to my area rep yesterday, as I'm still waiting for my IHR, and he told me any cases registered before 1st August will get 34 weeks under the old agreement, if they offer only 16 weeks, then to contact him, and he'll raise it at a national level. RM and HR have been dragging their heels, and he reckons a load of cases will start coming through after 1st August. As somebody else stated, the managers don't care, mine just shrugged when I said I could lose 18 weeks pay.
At the end of the day, it's the job that has caused my osteoarthritis in both knees, after 29 years of walking etc.
But I do feel a bit better now after speaking to the area rep.
The whole process of going through the LTBIH has been a complete shambles and tbh I just can't wait to get out of the place now!!

Glad area rep taking up your case. RM are acting illegally no two ways about it. You will get your money because it's your contractural right and it's straightforward to prove so it's an easy case for union ( RM ignoring agreement applicable to you will just not wash in the real world of an employment tribunal ). Ask your area rep for the date by which your tribunal claim must be lodged. So easy to miss a deadline with an employment claim. Get it in writing from rep ( I would because you never know if you might need this ). Thanks for update. Such a worry until it's sorted but try not to get wound up. I wouldn't leave a week going by without chasing things up with either rep or RM. Squeaky wheels get oiled and all that.

I have rang my manager every day this week, sent him what’s app messages which he had read as it has 2 ticks by it , asking him to call me to discuss my case after he told me he would ring me when he had time , I knew that wouldn’t happen so I know he is avoiding me. Also occupational health sent me a consent form to request my medical records, they had my form returned on 2nd July and when I rang my surgery yesterday they said they haven’t been in contact so if this is not delaying it then I don’t know what is.

These managers are getting paid some £40k a year, and they're not even doing their job properly. My manager has said he sent my IHR through at the end of May, but I still haven't heard anything.... there were 2 other people from my office who had their appointments only a week or two before me and theirs came through over a month ago, although these were dealt with by a different manager. My area rep has said RM and HR have been dragging their heels, so we'll see if it comes through next week. Either way, I'm still getting paid, and will get the back pay on Friday. The whole process of LTBIH is a complete shambles!! Hope you get sorted soon anyway.

All this "no money" is bullshit. If there's truly is no money the old agreement provides RM are make claim on their insurance and you still get paid.

Hi I spoke to an acting manager today who said a different manager is now dealing with my IHR so he read my file and said I can’t LTBIH with a pension as this means I can never work again and need minimum of 2 years service. So we are keeping on you long term sick or trying to get you back, so he told me to contact OH I said only managers can do that .I then told him I put in for LTBIH with a lump sum payment and according to the he Royal Mail/cwu policy it’s a minimum of one years service and that means I can no longer do my job as a postman but I can find employment at another company which is suitable for my illness. He then put the phone down. I spoke to my area rep who said he thinks it’s one years service he would speak to my manager next week and get back to me. Does anyone know if it’s one or 2 years minimum service for LTBIH with a lump sum payment

Hu, it's at least one years service, unless it's been changed since May. I hope it gets sorted out for you, it's a nightmare process!!

Ok, so what about the cases that have already been authorised? Mine was done on 26th May, and my manager has told me he's sent it through, but obviously there have been delays. The worse thing is not knowing what's going on, just sitting around waiting,....

I’m not sure my union rep said he would call me next week. Both of my DOMs are on annual leave so the acting manager said he was told to give me that message.

Just seen a LTB from the CWU dated 28th July saying that RM are denying that they are deliberately delaying the LTBIH payments. The CWU states that if anyone has evidence of their case being delayed then to raise a grievance etc. Also any cases authorised before 1st August should receive the correct 34 weeks compensation. Mine has been 10 weeks now, so I do feel that it has been delayed but by who and where I don't know, it's just really frustrating not knowing what's going on, I think I'll speak to my area rep again.....

I bet they will be inundated with complaints I missed a call from OH today they said saying that want me to book an appointment ring this number it’s just an automated service so I messaged my manager to book it instead , wondering how long I’m going to wait, he said he wants to get me back to work or keep me in long term sick. They think I want to go to work everyday and be in excruciating pain. It’s coming close to the 9 month mark now so hopefully when I do get my appointment OH will tell them it’s not on

Good call to the previous post above me haha

I'm awaiting the OH assessment, been off for 10 months with my back having a Degenerative disc in L5/S1 , tried all types of medication and physiotherapy, nothing has worked. Also got long term sciatica in my right leg. Awaiting surgery option but won't happen til around October 2024......

16 years service
