We received a petition asking:

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to dismiss allan leighton and adam crozier as chairman and chief executive of Royal Mail."

Details of Petition:

"it is imperative that we stop these two men trying to destroy what is a vitally important public service."

The Government fully supports the Board of Royal Mail as it takes forward its plans to modernise the company so that it can compete in a fully liberalised market. The Government has made available £1.2bn to enable this modernisation and has also allowed resources of £850m on the company's balance sheet to be placed in an escrow account to support the pension. The Government recognises the importance of postal services to the UK and wants to see a vibrant market that meets postal users' needs. The Government recognises, however, that the market conditions for all postal service operators are changing, with growing evidence of e-substitution and more sophisticated use of mobile communication. In the light of these developments, Government announced an independent Review of the postal sector on 17 December 2007.

The Review's terms of reference are:

To assess the impacts to date of liberalisation of the UK postal services market, including on the Royal Mail, alternative carriers and consumers;
to explore trends in future market development and the likely impact of these on Royal Mail, alternative carriers and consumers; and
to consider how to maintain the universal service obligation in the light of trends and market developments identified.
The Review will report later in the year. People wishing to participate and contribute to the Review should look at the Call for Evidence and other related papers on the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform website.

We need a revolution, coz we no longer live in a democracy, no-one in government listens, and theres no other alternative, and I'm normally middle of the ground when it comes to politics!!

So why was Royal Mail not modernised when it was in State hands then? Oh sorry it was, it changed it's name to Consignia, at a cost which might have went somewhere into new equipment. The Government has failed to protect Royal Mail, failed it's customers, and failed the country. We are being lined up for privatization, that is all there is to it!

It started with the coal mines. The buses and trains followed, and we know what happened there!! Were we really that green to not see this a mile off? Dont get rid of Leighton or Adams cause any one else in their job are just going to be yes men to. The Goverment need to take us back into Public ownership and if we are to get competition then we want fair competiton not Creaming!!!
