It's not normally held in Liverpool is it?

Its in Liverpool because its european city of culture 2008, its also includes 2 days on CWU rules, only done every 4 years

Its when we discuss changes in the rules of CWU, rule change motions are only allowed at rule change conferences.

Heres a rule change.
End all political funding. The notion of buying political influence in any so called demcratic system is blatantly corrupt, however widely accepted at present.
Use the money saved to fund an extra annual conference. This conference to consist of delegates elected at branch level and mandated to vote on annual pay increase and response to RM,s latest proposals.
No discussion, that will have been done at branch level by the membership, just vote casting and mandating our national representatives. That way they can represent us or if they don't like it [to use an RM favourite term ] they can leave. Simple and undeniably democratic

I heard at last years conference that the BIC (Bournemouth International Centre) had decided to put their prices up.

Also they said that they where going to start charging extra for the space in the foyer that is used for the information/charity stands.

The hotel owners etc in Bournemouth are not happy that we are off to Liverpool, they going to loose a lot of business.

Too right, there are also the other rumours though that conference has been moved to Liverpool for Billy Hayes, Jane Loftus and Tony Kearns to have it in their home town............ surely not

Billy will of pulled the strings to get a discount no doubt!

Billy wont be the one probably out of pocket by the end of the week due to all the Hotels in Liverpool being really busy and them putting the prices up!!!!!!!!!

I'd say Billy is about as welcome in Liverpool these days as the Luftwaffe was during the May Blitz of 1941.

You wouldnt save any money, you wouldnt have a political fund under your rule change.

You would need to increase the main subs by 10p a week.

You forget that ANY activity that could be classed as political has to be funded from a separate fund.

NUT members have just voted YES to setting up a political fund so as to campaign against canidates at elections that are racist or facist.

Well i dont know about RULES being changed..? But i know we need to think l;ong and hard if we want to change the bods at the head of our union?? And the political levee that we pay to the lie-bour party.. WITHOUT a choice until WE ourselves come out of paying by letter.. That in its self is wrong.. It should be the other way around... IF WANTING TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE LIE-BOUR Party.. Then give.. Not blindly hand over part of a sum that we offer to belong and be a part of a workers union.. NOT a political party... LIE-BOUR dont stand for what they did when the unions started and became one with Labour...

Lets stop banging the same old drum about politics when our people we vote forward get there minds turned by a nice office job as an MP in years to come...
