Service Buzzers On Blocks of Flats
Why oh why do some councils insist on putting them about a metre away from the actual door?
Came across one this morning which must have thought posties have stretch armstrong type arms, dropped my bundle leaning over trying to push the button with one hand and open the door (which weighed a tonne) with the other. Ended up with me haring it down the street chasing letters that the wind blew away.
Was not a happy postie!

Costs around 15 spondoolies for a fob to get in loads of flats down our way,we need tons of them.
Been askin for ages for them.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've a few on mine. First one goes off at 10.00am, next 2 go off at 11.00am and the last one is broken, either that or it's set for 12.00pm. If I'm late getting out then I've got to re-jig my walk to get into them all, especially as one of them is a bag drop. I've said to manager about this but he says it's up to them to change the times to suit us. However, no mention of customer service, I can't be bringing back over 100 calls worth of mail every day and before anyone starts that it's not my problem, it is. I am a firm believer in providing a decent service to my customers in spite of RM's attempts to prevent this, there are still some of us about, you know, the "I care about the service I provide and my customers appreciate it" brigade, call me old fashioned if you want. Where is the point in having a security system in place that you can't use because your postie arrives sometime in the afternoon? Most places have these locks because they need them, not to annoy the postman. When we went to the SDD everyone had to change all their time locks to match the new delivery times, then we went to even later starts and RM wanted everyone to change them again, now we are going back to earlier starts, so if they had changed their times, they'd have to change them back. It just shows how little regard RM actually have for the public.

The buzzers never work on the flats I deliver too. They are always smashed up. I try the door and if it does not open then it goes back to the office and I put a controlled entry sticker on the mail. If I cant get in for 7 days then it gets killed off. I dont really want to go into the flats anyway coz they stick of piss s**t and drugs and there is often smashed glass and needles around.
