Another crap day at the office, electric bills, telephone bills, dvla, and just to top it off a smattering of council tax bills, most walks had anything from 16-21 bundles of mech mail, last saturday was pretty bad this one was worse so much for a shorter day,As for the callers your soooo right about that job, have had the callers duty many times in my short life in RM and sometimes the cards are so badly filled outits like guess what that says or do you think thats the number or has the time been filled out in the wrong place,so ladies and gents have a heart and fill your cards out with all the info so that all can be read helps no end to the staff who do the job.

ye i do that too!
think everyone should be in the callers for a few hours and that would open there eyes or at least improve there handwriting
worked in there a few times just filling when they are on a break, how embarrassing is it when you cannot find the packet, usually when you have a long line and people waiting

One of the worst I came across was a F739 filled out by one Postman. We looked for the parcel for ages, well 3 days, eventually we got hold of the duty holder and he put his hand on it straight away. Why could we find it, well it had been misnamed by the sender and the helpful postie put the real name on the F739 instead.
The names IIRC was Farmer and Palmer

How shirty do they get when you ask for ID and they have none?
a good one i had was she came in with the card more or less flung it at me "come for this" seemed to be pissed before she got to me, having done that i should have known! asked for ID as it was a special "i have none" told her credit card would do, "not got it" got more shirty when i told her no ID no item! then it came out! "look outside i have a Jaguar"
FFS! i had to hold back the laugh and amazement of what she said
still get all sorts eh?
she never got the packet had to go home for ID never felt bad about it!
get many a laugh in there, utmost respect to the people that do it all the time!

Our office covers an area that is split between 2 neighbouring offices. The offices have different post codes. A customer rang the office DEMANDING! that she was given a post code for our office, instead of the neighbouring 1. (Our area is considered to be a better area, and is reflected in the price of property etc) Why buy the house there then?

I love that situation they always say "Where does it say that"
so I point it out on the card they brought with them. If they are still shirty I ask them if we handed it over to just anyone would they be happy.

WHAT A TF DAY
Today was totally flucked from start to finish.
I don't understand why but today I was told to do one duty and mine would be done by someone else. When this someone else came in, I gave him my patented walk brief. Its very specific as I have compiled it over the years I have been doing the duty, I do it this way because it makes sure that they duty is just about 3.5 hrs no more and no less unless its light.
Well all off a sudden he started complaining that he would be cutting off I could not understand why I thought it was a steady day and he should finish on time. Well he bundles it up and the boss then changes me back on to my walk. Has this guy done as I suggested No.
Despite saving myself 1/2 hour dead walking if I did not know the walk as well as I do I still went over by 1/2 hour today. The nice young man
had completely ignored my tried and trusted method of doing my walk and just kept filling bags till they were full and then sent them out. So instead of 6 or 7 bags all of less than 10 kgs I had one of 16kg - 1 of 17kg (WTF) and from then till the end of the walk all I was doing was never emptying the bag and adding more weight every time I got to a Safe Drop.
Is there any point in doing a walk brief which takes you maybe 10 minutes longer to bundle up but saves you 1/2 to an hour on the duty.
Rant over

Re: WHAT A TF DAY
The old phrase "casting pearls before swine" comes to mind Teebs - still the extra weight must have kept your feet on the ground during the high winds - I'm sure I saw a granny flying past at about 50 feet. Dropped one letter (thank God it was only one) and had to chase it for nearly 100 yards. Ended the day 47 minutes over after prebooking 45 - so I'm happy with that.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Today was totally flucked from start to finish.

k66yla, I hope you reported that to your manager - they should be forced to apologize before receiving the item - or better still take their comment to mean the transaction is over and send the damn thing back before they return for it.k66yla wrote:Not too bad a day, managed to get all the returns put away, everything going well until a customer came in at 6.45pm without any ID/739, would'nt let him have his special, called me a 'stupid c**t'I'm getting sick off the abuse off the public, oh well tomorrows another day

I will make the managers aware of it tomorrow, they had all gone home hours before I finished my duty tonight. I think the situation is, we can refuse to deliver any item of mail to the customers address until we have received a formal apology off them, surprised we would have any customers at all if this is the caserhino49 wrote:k66yla, I hope you reported that to your manager - they should be forced to apologize before receiving the item - or better still take their comment to mean the transaction is over and send the damn thing back before they return for it.k66yla wrote:Not too bad a day, managed to get all the returns put away, everything going well until a customer came in at 6.45pm without any ID/739, would'nt let him have his special, called me a 'stupid c**t'I'm getting sick off the abuse off the public, oh well tomorrows another day

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I was trained up on my first collection today & at the local council, we had shed loads of bags & thought "Oh s**t Council Tax".....nope, only the forms for the benefit claiments! Still have CT to come!POSTMAN wrote:Aint had ours yet.Up Hill Down Hill wrote:Council tax today... Oh what fun that was
Oh yeah, apparently they had got in contact with "one of our managers", but the first anyone at our office knew about that, was when we returned with an overloaded van and complained.......so whoever got the message, didn't pass it on.....must have been a unique one off, it's not like it happens all the time, is it?
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
