I think the allowance is built into the hourly wage with agency. The also acquire leave to I doubt any of it is pensionable though.

Re: Leaving already?
Question: How to deal with staff shortages?
Answer: Change family friendly hours thus stopping you recruiting anymore of the biggest demographic in your work force, i.e. parents.
You really couldn’t make this up

When I was with agency, we got paid leave. This was on top of my hourly rate.
I'm turning purple!

If it wasn’t for the fact I’ve had a single van duty for the past 5 years I’d be long gone by now. Van sharing is and was the worst working practice ever brought in by a country mile. I had a few years of never knowing who I’d be working with or double prepping for part timers that might not turn up

It’s not great. Even if you get on with the other person you might just not be in the same work rhythm. Vans are in short supply at our office now it will be 3 to a combo soon with 35 bags don’t forget your van check.

They’ve made the job impossible,on purpose. God only knows what it must be like to be a new starter looking for a fresh start & trying to impress

This!! I don't dislike my van partner as a person but as a colleague who I spend 5 working days with I very much struggle with him.kazardaimenu wrote: ↑14 Jul 2023, 15:05It’s not great. Re: Leaving already?
Yeah van share is an awful idea, I've been paired with all sorts since I started, from the angry older posties who refuse to do anything that's not "their" part of the walk, the 2 guys who won't do anything more than the streets they did 20 years ago ("management know not to say anything",) the guy who spends the entire round telling you to the minute how long it is before you need to cut off, and spends at least half hour of every day rifling through bundles and pulling the tracked out so he can do them and leave the mail... Then there's the 70yo who loads the van, unloads it and puts it all back in so never gets out before 10.45, and shouts abuse at you if you try and help.

Don’t forget the runners who race round and won’t let you catch a breath. Trays already prepped by the time you get in already scanning parcels.

Re: Leaving already?
A 70 year old ! How on earth can you carry on at that age in this job now ? It would of been ok 20 years ago when we had 2 bags of mail max and used bikes !!

Re: Leaving already?
The reason why they carry on is because they've f****d up somewhere along the way. Twenty years ago with two bags???? More like thirty!

Yes I’m paired with a prat who thinks it’s the drivers job to deliver to Schools, even though he walks past them!
