Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
All MCs have just had realignments and resigns (duties and stafing realigned to match workloads). I expect we might get another in the autumn when the Network Review kicks in.LancePercival wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 20:20Dreamer nothing but a dreamer would be a better song, another 300 hours coming out our office just been announced but coming for you lot in mail centres very soon.jahbalon wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 17:14I think we will soon get back to normal quite frankly. I believe the CWU, Davie Ward and Terry Pullinger tried their hearts out for us in very hostile and intractable negotiations with a combative and brutal Simon Thompson and Royal Mail.
Thompson gone now and hopefully the wounds heal soon and everyone can start pulling together again.
It won't be easy, but with a little bit of common sense, goodwill and compromise, I believe we will all get back together again.
" You don't get me, I'm Part of the Union "
If any more hours get taken out of MCs, DOs will get their work a lot later and that's before the axing of all the flights. If anything we need hours putting back in, we have at least half a dozen casuals on each shift, every day

The CWU is finished. A lame duck if ever there was one.gb93 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 06:52Well my thoughts are next pay deal.
Monday to Friday 35 hour week with Saturday & Sunday parcels done on mix of overtime & weekend parcel delivery drivers.
If the base 7 hours was 8am to 3pm Mon to Fri that in my opinion would go some way of solving school pick up problems too.
Next deal has to be one that benefits us in some ways too not just waters down RM plans
Royal Mail will do whatever they want, whenever they want.
That's how it is now.

They could try paying people a decent wage but that money's been earmarked for the next dividend.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 22:10Delivery has had a big retention problem for years most newbies were only lasting a few months and I doubt now many would want to apply considering how bad the pay is in comparison to physically easier jobs.
It’s not just Royal Mail who have problems all the courier companies are having retention issues.
The machine stops.

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
All companies want to maximise profit not just Royal Mail. Problem Royal Mail have is that the majority of its competitors work on a gig economy model which means the don’t have to pay a minimum wage hence the huge drop in pay for new recruits.Mr Rush wrote: ↑11 Jul 2023, 17:38They could try paying people a decent wage but that money's been earmarked for the next dividend.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2023, 22:10Delivery has had a big retention problem for years most newbies were only lasting a few months and I doubt now many would want to apply considering how bad the pay is in comparison to physically easier jobs.

The reason people don’t last long at Royal Mail or other courier companies is they don’t realise what the job is most think you just walk around for a couple of hours and then go home or deliver a few parcels and that’s the day done.
The reality of it is the more they pay us the less staff they will employ hence the much bigger rounds and huge drop off in QoS.

Re: How can Union get everybody back on board
That part I would completely agree with. The union have been banging on about a shorter working week for years. And when we eventually get it, it benefits the company more than it does us.guardianangel wrote: ↑16 Jul 2023, 08:20Exactly surely we should be on 35 hours from the 1st of August,we have been well and truly screwed over.
Extra staff would not be needed because we would be doing the extra work. Any extra overtime that some posties might do has been cut. A few extra hours might not seem like much individually but over a hundred thousand staff the company theoretically should make millions. And I've not counted the hare-brained staff who treat the job like running for the Olympics.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
