I think YES will prevail. It’ll be close though…
But if it’s a NO it gives the CWU a chance, perhaps, to win back a bit of faith from its members. If it’s a NO the union must be stronger than they have been.
The strength of the union with regards to negotiations comes directly from the membership and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to win concessions, that willingness to sacrifice has been eroded almost to the point of non-existence
I'm not sure under the circumstances how we could be anything other than in a weaker position than when we started so effectively we would be trying to negotiate a better deal from a worse position... or basically begging I suppose.
If someone could explain how that isn't the case I'm willing to listen.
We are not stronger are we?
However I can not see how Dave Ward can possibly hold our corner.
He was spouting off with a real union rep the other day, trying to convince who?, that he has any input.
Sad state.
Yes will win 60 40 and cwu will never recover, next year will come for allowances from mail centres and drivers and they'll go, fight has gone and be no help from deliveries for them, terrible were all split after being so strong, shame really.

Anyhow look after yourselves
Don't think it would be just MC allowances, think it'd more likely be all allowances from everyone that isn't a legal requirement
If a no vote gets in I really don’t know where that leaves us. Surely Ward and board members must resign, who can then be replaced quickly with new blood who can regain trust. If it’s a yes, expect a lot of us to take the money and move onto something else, and good luck to those who embrace the changes.

If it was a no vote I don’t know how you can say that willingness to sacrifice has been eroded almost to the point of non-existence when we havent been on strike since December and have unanimously voted to take strike action since then with no action called
If the ballots returned low support for strike action or there was recent strike action that was poorly supported maybe I’d see where you are coming from
It’s by the by anyway as it isn’t going to be a no vote
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Say it's more to the fact that it's been seven months since anything has been done that is the issue. One change is that since strike action quite a lot of bills have gone up since then and food inflation has risen as well so people are possibly feeling the pinch a lot more compared to last year. Plus, the fact the company is straight up plowing through the changes unopposed with these revisions to the point people have now looked at any strike action now being completely ineffective. Doesn't help the union that you'd be striking under is accepting most of these changes and are signing off on them. Either scenario it doesn't end well for any of us.
You can accept this deal and be worse off with terms and conditions but have money in your pocket and plan your escape, or vote no and possibly take the slim chance the company might come with a slightly better offer where terms are not too bad. Best kiss any chance of the company increasing the pay rise though since still don't even have the decency to let staff order new uniform. Personally, I don't even think at this point any strike action results now wouldn't even be worth it considering how much money you would lose once again. We can stay as we are without a payrise, but it's one thing for people to say that and another to live in it. End of the day, people do need the money to survive, especially in these times. It's really not going to take that long to the point where you'd be better off stocking shelves with the way wages from other companies are catching up.
All honesty, the job really isn't all that but my experiences are completely different compared to others in the company. I've been screwed out of walks because of people continuously coming in for f**k all even now(most mind you are old timers that still under the "job and finish" mindset) and managers that will say f**k all about it since it works in their favour. Then, said idiots will hop off their walks due to their seniority and walk getting bigger and repeat the process all over again. Till these guys f**k off, the job is always going to be f****d. Still relatively young so got options so soon as tomorrow is done, I'll be planning my future and it will be without Royal Mail.
