Why everyone should have voted No
Voting NO is not going to change it the same with the imposed pay deal last year this is another imposition by RM thing is we as a union are powerless with the anti union regulations and even if we did get a vote on it? Would it change anything and the best course of action is do as little as possible so you don't get injured or ill as this company has no interest in you all!

The sick pay policy is changing in August whether this deal is accepted or not.

That should be a sobering thought to those who believe Royal Mail need an agreement to impose change.

Where I dont fall out with your thinking, is the line that because the union have given up the fight against these changes - you wouldnt just be fighting RM but also fighting for the backing from the union too.

I dont understand how they can get away with changing contractual sick pay without any challenge. I understand its not made easier putting in a challenge when the union hierarchy disappointingly actually agree with the changes to sick pay so its left to individuals who, by and large, will have too much apathy to oppose them.

If they can do this then can they also give notice to get rid of sick pay altogether with no ramifications? If they can i'd be stumped as to why.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

people need to know where they stand regarding this , as myself have been off twice this year due to a pain in my groin which i thought was nothing after 2nd time went to docs who sent me for an xray , which i have been told my hip is f****d with arthritis and is bone on bone and need a full replacement which i am now on a waiting list to get the op , im still working with pain and under pain killers but dont know how long they will last taking the edge off it . and then this could lead to another part on this deal IHR which i would get next to f**k all to get rid of me :thumbdown , and what really f***s me off martin walsh is trying to polish this turd of an agreement but doesnt or want to answer a simple question .

There was a joint working group to decide how to migrate onto the new deal but it's been radio silence since the.
Are they still in discussions ? Are they awaiting the result of the ballot ? Who knows we certainly don't.

It’s still not a bad sick policy…. But I think once you have been at the company 20 years or more (one of the guys I used to work with retired maybe 5 years ago but he was a postie since the 60s!) then I think the sick pay should go back to how it is now. Penalising people who have walked more miles for the company than it probably takes to walk to the moon and back and not paying them when their knees or feet start aching I think is poor.

Union really trying to push this by keeping the details murky saying we’d get two days ssp after the first absence which is zero. Fair enough some people take the piss and need to be targeted but we should have that safety net in such a physical job. RM and the Union talk about m’competitors but I don’t ever see these people. Delivering parcels from an air conditioned van is a different game entirely.

Good point FB :thumbup

Considering that outdoor spans and obviously walks are getting bigger you would have thought the Union would have really strived to keep the sick policy. Instead what the CWU have agreed in this deal is that if sick leave is below 5.5% over a 6 month period then RM would re-instate previous sick pay arrangements.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If you meet the criteria for the lump sum, it's now 16 weeks compensation as per this deal - a massive reduction in what people would have normally got in the past for IHR.

Just go in feeling sick and do nothing ,if its an injury and you cant walk just go in and sit on your ass all day just like the doms and you will still get paid, think they might of made a rod for their own back, better still tell them you'll go out on delivery and try ,ring them in your 1st hour and tell them you cant walk anymore you need them to pick you up and give you some indoor work or just do one loop and say you cant move very quickly,im sure in legal terms if they send you home its classified as medical suspension which can not affect your pay or sickness absence record,im sure the union can update you on this, well im hoping so you do pay them to have all the legalities to hand .

It's absolutely disgraceful whar RM have done, holding back the IHR till after 1st August. If this is true then people should challenge it legally with a no win no fee lawyer. I wouldn't use CWU lawyers, don't think you would get anywhere.
