The problem is your ‘burn it all down’ approach doesn’t hurt those people. They are horribly rich already. It is people like myself who want to continue working in the role, even despite these changes, that you are punishing.postslippete wrote: ↑07 Jul 2023, 20:09They wouldn't listen to you Lou because you're not a financial guy
Those investors are in it for the long haul anyway. They might not receive a handsome 7% dividend this year but the company has looked after them with any profits that we make.
If the company can resolve this dispute imho it can be really profitable. They have seen how GLS work and they would like us to be a similar model. Some of us won't accept that and will probably jump if we are not pushed first.

Think you might be confusing me with someone else
I don't see myself as punishing anyone. What will be, will be regardless and I've already said I would love to work at your delivery office!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Sometimes rich is not rich enough and all the power in the world is not enough and I would say power is nothing without control and maintaining that power. And thus we end up with dictators in government but also in business and public services like the NHS and Councils and the Police and OFCOM!

If you are voting no, despite understanding the outcome of a no vote, you have to be doing so out of spite, as it is objectively the nuclear option. I can’t blame ignorant people for voting no, but you seem reasonably intelligent and clued in, and I have more resentment for people like yourself who have voted against the deal frankly, despite knowing what the outcome will be.postslippete wrote: ↑07 Jul 2023, 21:31Think you might be confusing me with someone else![]()

The confusion for me comes with the narrative that the CWU are useless, incompetent, corrupt and a sellout and only want to protect themselves at the expense of our terms and conditions.
Royal mail are corrupt and incompetent liars who only want to line their shareholders pockets at the expense of our terms and conditions.
Let's vote no and see what happens...
What could possibly go wrong?
If you think both the surgeon and nurse are drunk and incompetent it's probably best to take the knife off them and get out while you still have one good leg. It might not be a good outcome but it's not going to get better the more they slice away.

God the quotes just keep coming to justify voting for this agreement. Drunk surgeons?
If what you are trying to say is its the best of a bad deal just say that, trying to find different ways to say the same thing is draining.
We know you want a yes vote as you think we are in real trouble without.
Some of us choose to differ, that's life everyone thinks differently.
I think that we and the union are in trouble with a yes vote.
But let's see what happens on Tuesday

Don't think anyone wants this agreement apart from RM and the CWU. If any manager on here thinks it will play into their hands when 10,000 or 20,000 staff leave after the pay deal is completed. They will walk in the shoes of the ones who leave in a drop of a hat!

Not quotes, metaphors, and I liked it. The problem some of us are having is, it isn’t choosing to differ if you vote no, it is ignoring every side involved in this agreement, who are telling you to vote for it, with no reason to do so.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑08 Jul 2023, 15:43God the quotes just keep coming to justify voting for this agreement. Still on the campaign trail
It is too late to influence people now.
It's very disrespectful to assume that people voting no are ignoring "every side involved (with a yes intent)" just because your perspective has trouble understanding it.
From the comments, I think it is clear people on both sides have not been ignoring the CWU or RM. There are thousands of comments endlessly discussing it.

The warchest is a financial investment once they dictate our terms of employment and could be released but they still found £900 million for the east midlands super hub!

That ain’t gonna happen. Actually intelligent people have tried and failed to shut me the f up and have failed. I haven’t been this disappointed, in one of my BBC heroes growing up, since the whole Savile debacle Mr Chuckle.barrychuckle wrote: ↑08 Jul 2023, 17:52Yeah Lou shut the f up and have a weekend off.
