Didn't she? When she decided to "starve the IRA of the oxygen of publicity" and had Gerry Adams' voice dubbed by an actor just to show us how hard she was, she gave the go ahead to open secret talks with them. By the time John Major was telling everyone "it would turn my stomach to talk to the IRA" the secret talks had been under way for some time. I suppose there will be plenty of revelations once the bitch kicks the bucket and the contrived display of public grief dies down.DB1100 wrote:At least she never surrendered to the IRA,unlike Tony Bliar

That's right. The IRA bombing of the City of London ( the bomb site the gherkin now occupies ) was the turning point.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:Didn't she? Just remind me who freed the IRA killers? and is Northern Ireland a better more stable place now? all happened on TB's watch,I didn't agree with a lot of things she did but she earned my respect when she appeared on TV straight after the IRA tried to kill her at Brighton,Blair on the other hand ran like a scolded cat when he got hit by a flour bomb chucked by the Fathers for Justice, despite his own Gobment advice (In that stupid pamphlet that we delivered) telling everbody to stay put all in all a wet blanket of a man

I think we all know Blair is a plank without you telling us. Just don't try to portray that Bitch as some kind of superwoman when all the time she was dealing with the IRA. It's not as if she did something really great and stopped idiots dressing up like 1970s bus conductors and carrying out provocative marches in what they imagine is a portrayal of loyalty.DB1100 wrote:Just remind me who freed the IRA killers? and is Northern Ireland a better more stable place now? all happened on TB's watch,I didn't agree with a lot of things she did but she earned my respect when she appeared on TV straight after the IRA tried to kill her at Brighton,Blair on the other hand ran like a scolded cat when he got hit by a flour bomb chucked by the Fathers for Justice, despite his own Gobment advice (In that stupid pamphlet that we delivered) telling everbody to stay put all in all a wet blanket of a man

Re: THE IRON LADY HAS HAD A TURN
I began my working life when the old bag got elected for the first time in 1979..........The old bag may not have been for turning, but she was a dabk979aaa wrote:For this has just broken as news on the tv!. she was before my time but as i remember she was not for turning!.

I'm with Ricky, down the boozer with workers having a bevvy, norbert wrote:As Ricky Tomlinson said in his programme about the Coal Industry , they won't need coal in the place she's going to soon , as it'll be more than hot enough .Rowdy wrote:Will Gordon Brown be rushing to her bedside?
He said he'll be having a celebratory pint or two on that day .
I believe they have to have all these obituary programmes ready for TV and articles prewritten for the posh papers . Sky TV ran one by mistake on the Queen Mother before she'd popped her clogs . Needless to say , the person responsible for the screening got the sack LOL
the day the old witch kicks that long-overdue bucket.

the 94 cease fire was a impetus for the Good Friday Agreement , a lot of people were involved in the process , Bertie Ahearn , Senator George Mitchell , Clinton , not just Major or Blair . I can understand people being sick of war or sick of being "under siege`" , whether, using politics and politics being the black art of the possible was worth it to get the ballot box instead of the bullet agreement, is contentious .People did vote for it though .Lounge Lizard wrote:That's right. when she does kick the bucket , no doubt some memoirs will get interesting . The view in the Conservative Party was the Brighton bombing was the beginning of the end for her 1 She was running out of enemies to take on 2 With the security that she had to have as a result she got detached and the policies steadily got more unpopular .
The irony was at the end , they did a coup worthy of a banana republic to get rid of her to save their sorry skins as they saw her as a liability , the other irony was before her party got elected in 79 , the likes of Keith Joseph etc were nutters and she was regarded as too strident and right wing .Politics going in circles as per usual .
MURDERERS. Need to dispose of a body? Simply parcel it up and post it to yourself via DHL. You will never see it again.

That statue of her soon got wrecked. Just as Diana's grave was on an island hers will have to be somewhere inaccessable to deter Tommo and many others wanting to pay it a visit, but not to lay flowers on itDirtyHarry wrote:Hooray!
