It took you an hour to come up with that? I mean, you could have edited it into your previous post, but I guess you were proud of it and felt it deserved its own.
Our office is a few weeks into our revision, and despite being short-staffed we are still completing every day. Sounds like a more pleasant office to work in than some on here, which I guess is why I am more keen to vote for a deal that safeguards my job.
No it didn't take an hour, it was an aside.
The more you speak the more unbelievable you sound. However in happy-Land
That's a bit shortsighted dont you think Lou? If your next revision fxxks things up like it did at ours and many other DOs do you think you might think differently? Also your comments seem a bit 'I'm alright Jack' ? Not that that's always a bad thing, depends on your experience I guess
This is the ‘next revision’ though as area managers have informed our managers that there are no more hours to be saved in our office. It depends what you mean by ‘I’m alright Jack’ - I have long been of the opinion that I come in on time and work my time. If I fancy doing overtime on that day to complete and my manager is in agreement, then I complete, otherwise mail is left or brought back, depending on how I am instructed. Thankfully our duties are very achievable on a model week.
The work day is actually very straightforward in that regard.
Sorting manually? Not the case now because of automation, so I'm still wondering why? Oh jeez am I really asking this on a Saturday night
Its not just letters competition for parcels next day malarkey is were the money is and obviously RM want a market share which is our fast food reality unfortunately.

I wasnt having a go with the I'm alright Jack, because I get people want to protect how their working day goes, but shouldn't we be thinking of how things are going affects everyone in this job? Your duties are achievable that's brilliant but if you were in an office where the revisions were awful and day in day out managers were twats constantly badgering do you think you might think differently? I'm not a person that management gets to, I've been here a long time and brush their harrassment off, but I saw people break down in tears in our last revision because managers were such utter cntus and the work presented to them daily was utterly bonkers, this is what all of us should be against

I don’t think I have enough emotional bandwidth to consider the thoughts and needs of every postal worker in the country to that degree. That is what I pay the union to do. My priority is my job and my office. I sympathise with anyone who is suffering in the way you outline, but I personally don’t think this deal is in anyway relevant to these revisions, some of which were in place before the agreement was even reached.

Aah the 2nd delivery, 20 letters tops and home we went I still havnt seen anything proper about bench merging or how it works,is it a myth?
Neither have I, but they trialled it a few years ago in a few offices. Whatever happened I don't know but I can see the mech arriving later and in one wave. How this operation will work is anyones guess but the general idea is that it will save indoor prep time
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
I’m pushing a ‘secure our jobs’ agenda. I’ve had nothing, nothing from those suggesting voting no will in any way improve my work life going forward. Care to be the first?
Nothing secure about a manager being able to blame and punish you because he missed his targets. We have already seen an extension to the manager mates club.
And no I do not care to be and you don't want me to be. I don't care what you vote and you don't care for anyone to change your mind. Any valid opinion would cause dissonance, and you'd have to find some excuse to remove that, it's far easier than even considering that one could be wrong. Even if finding out you are wrong improves your life.

Your example emphasises the need to vote with your union and keep them involved in your working life. Imagine going up against an unscrupulous manager with no backup at all, which is a real possibility if a no vote comes in.

I think the opposite is true. Firstly you should never vote against your interests for safety. We've seen how that has worked out throughout history. Secondly, it is an assumption that a yes vote is better for the union. Which is where this started.

Everything based on the future is an assumption.
It doesn't mean all assumptions carry equal weight.
I can assume I won't win the jackpot on the lottery on Monday with a far better degree of confidence than assuming I'll win.

If the union is advising you to vote yes then it dictates that they will benefit, no? Why would they suggest it otherwise?
If the union is advising you to vote yes on a quite obviously s**t deal it should be looked at long and hard before voting.
It will not be a good outcome either way it's just if you can live with it.
I can't!
Others can!
Think about it.

A s**t deal can still be the best deal when you are dealing with a company losing money in a dying industry.
Not happy with a lot in this agreement it was always a no vote from me,when tomo said we were overpayed and underworked that was the last straw for me.

Underpaid an overworked was said long before thompson.
