Please find attached a copy of a letter from Mark Higson the Managing Director of Royal Mail Letters, setting out further changes to the managerial structure. Clearly these changes are designed to strengthen the company's focus on the key challenges facing Royal Mail Letters.

Changes to Royal Mail Letters Management Structure.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

re: privatisation written all over it me thinks
I do know some of them very well, others not quite so well.
Without being on the inside it looks to me like further clear deliniation from Post Office Limited, and from Group (though it still looks a little merky).
If you are looking for a move towards a socialist bring back the good old days revival then you will be sorely mistaken.
You will see further 'commercial' decisions taken by people who have not grown up from within the business, but come from an outside perspective.
In some ways this is good as they will bring a commercial reality and prepare the business well for full privatisation sometime in the future. There are some bright minds on that board, but my main worry would be their ability to handle the unions, and general union matters.
However, do expect them to be able to handle the regulator well and not take decisions that will screw-up the business. However, this depends on your viewpoint.

So to paraphrase "The business side will go from strength to strength and profits will rise" - However "The social side such as Social awareness and responsibility, wages, service, pensions and staff retention and recognition will be slipping further and further".
Gawd why can't we have a situation where both are taken into account on an equal basis. But at least we know now why they are closing profitable Post Offices.
I have been with RM less than 5 years and when I joined I loved the job - the likeometere just seems to be heading downwards ever since.

Only 5 years? Well I am sorry to say you certainly missed the good old days. When there was a major posting the union would negotiate a set rate which meant that you got so many hours for delivering it, we used to get our hours in (41.5) then by say 9 a.m. Friday and the rest of Friday and all day Saturday was on overtime - believe me when I tell you it was then a wonderful place to work. Managers were not allowed to touch the mail only postal grades, there was hardly any complaints, people got their mail before they went to work but sad to say once the Managers believed they could control things better it has gone to pot.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:So to paraphrase "The business side will go from strength to strength and profits will rise" - However "The social side such as Social awareness and responsibility, wages, service, pensions and staff retention and recognition will be slipping further and further".
