Breaks ( 20 mins at the end of duty )

Long story short , we had a really poor revision a few months ago that’s going really bad.

Managers have been trying all of the usual bullying tactics and we have now reached the you have to have all of your break including the 20 mins most not all have at the end of their duty stage of it.

My understanding was there’s a national agreement on this , if so can anyone point me to it?

I always thought you didn’t have to return the office for the sole purpose is signing out and with no facilities on delivery and yeah it's been a couple of things well like the fact you’re entitled to have a break away from your work station ( not in a van ) then surely you’d have to come back to the delivery office for your second break.

You should take all your breaks as you are paid to take them.

Where do you go if you need the toilet? - we use a supermarket as it's closer, if no where else was available then you go back to the office.

You can take 20mins indoors and 20mins outdoors, taking 20mins indoors and 20mins on the back end for an 8 hour shift is pretty stupid in my opinion but eh ho!

When they change our start and finish times I am going to insist on returning to office to take complete 40 min breaks in the middle of my working day
We at present take 20 min before delivery and 20 at end
If RM want to f**k with our times so be it

There is no national agreement per se.

It's all about - what was agreed in revisions.
If your office feels aggrieved then take it higher.

Personally I feel that taking it in one go fecks them more.

Thanks for the replies , after some digging through some agreements and law I’ve got what I needed.

As I said before , there’s way more to it than just this and way more than I can be bothered to type.

I just want to help the people on my office because it’s a disgrace what is happening and we have no reps.

Taking breaks

Employers can say when employees take rest breaks during work time as long as:

the break is taken in one go somewhere in the middle of the day (not at the beginning or end)
workers are allowed to spend it away from their desk or workstation (ie away from where they actually work)
It doesn’t count as a rest break if an employer says an employee should go back to work before their break is finished.

Unless a worker’s employment contract says so, they don’t have the right

I feel it’s down to the Local Management on whether 20 mins is allowed to be taken at the end , they know it’s going to pxxs a few people off by making changes and disallowing.
“No BIG deal, it’s only 20mins” but for some it could mean disruption to the school run etc..

Just another nail in the coffin and counter productive attitude by management but they make the rules which we have to abide.

Personally if I was me , I would take 20mins before going out on delivery and 20mins whilst on delivery.

We are not allowed to take our break at the end of our duty and must scan out on our finish time. Allowing people to take 20 mins at the end would help reduce the later finish time for school run etc. Might be worthj considering in negotiations?

it's in "a" agreement somewhere but many have been ripped up, but it once was if a 40min break 20 within the shift and 20mins before knock off,
i.e clock out 20mins early
