Who told you this?Have they got a copy of the signed agreement to show you? This may happen under phase 3 of the agreement but as far as i know no one is at that stage yet.

You don't cut off any day.

What you do is tell them that you have something to do (doesn't matter what I like washing my hare) and you will be unable to complete within the time allowed but they may try to use the 30mins but I can't see how that works on a Saturday because you can't get it back (if one of the union yes men knows maybe they can tell us) :hmmmm

No, and it can never be right. Nobody can be made to do overtime. I doubt very much, that even with the idiots we have at the top, the CWU will
agree to enforced overtime. Tell your DOM he's talking bollox.

I really would like to see them enforce that in our office,no manager can force you to work past your hours and if they tried then i feel they could come up against more problems. You only have to tell the manager that you will not be able to compleat your delivery and that you will endevour to do your best, you agree with the manager what you can take and leave what you cant behind with the manager for them to deal with, never allow the manager to make it your problem put the ball firmly back in the managers court that is what they are payed for,if all else fails then bring the mail back and hand it to them with i told you so!

Overtime is voluntary and not compulsory !!!!

your union rep + manager should be shot for giving you the wrong information.

I agree that Saturdays are a lot busier than they used to be, mainly through bad streaming rather than an increase in mail but watch out for this one - our managers showed us figures proving it was the busiest day bar one but didn't notice that they always add the dtd volume for the week on a Saturday.

Make sure any figures you are shown do not include the dtd's and ask how they are factored into the figures each week.- They may not call them traffic - but we carry and deliver them !!!
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

It may be a local agreement and therefore you will need to check with the Rep.

However, there is no National Agreement on "Not being able to cut off on Saturdays". I have done a search on the CWU Website for "Saturdays" and nothing - expect the agreement to revert back to earlier starts (and we all know how well RM have handled that)- is found - nothing at all.

If you had an agreement for earlier finishes on a Saturday RM will have to get another agreement for a later finish. How can you agree to a 2.00 finish on a Saturday. Have you no families, do you not go to sports matches etc. are you not bothered about quality time at the weekend. WORK TO LIVE NOT LIVE TO WORK.
