Re: Getting I’ll health enhanced pension
i dont know anything about enhanced pension for ill health retirement ive not heard of it
but i do know that when you get ill health retirement the 5 percent reduction each year for taking it early is cancelled out
my friend got ill health retirement from the council at 55 and he got 100 percent of his pension
if he had took it at 55 without ill health he would only have got 75 percent
thats what he told me anyway and ive no reason to doubt him
somebody else who is more clued up than me might be able to confirm this im no expert.

Re: Getting I’ll health enhanced pension
My mate is going through this, he's taking his pension at 55 due to not being able to work anymore.
Seems it's not because you can't work for Royal Mail ( possibly need confirmation on that) it's because you can't work at all.
He will get his (eventually) pension without any penalties.
Contact them for more info.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You only get it IF they deem to be unable to work in any capacity for anyone, stroke etc. If you are unable to do your job within RM, but could work elsewhere, then it will not be enhanced.Barrybarry wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 08:12Can someone confirm how enhanced pension for I’ll Heath works ?

It doesn't anymore!Barrybarry wrote: ↑21 Jun 2023, 08:12Can someone confirm how enhanced pension for I’ll Heath works ?
Assuming your medical condition was severe enough, you used to be able to take your full pension, unreduced regardless of age. Plus you'd also get 37.5% of the pension you would have got if you'd stayed employed by RM until age 65.
But that enhancement stopped in 2018 when the pension element of the RMPP closed to future accrual. Members have been paying into the DBCBS since, but that provides a lump sum rather than an actual pension.
As has been said already, you may still be able to get a unreduced pension.
