Sick Pay, Absence Policy and Ill Health Policy

In relation to the Absence policy standards the proposal was to make the attendance standards the same for each stage of the process. The standards would become 3 absences or 12 days absent, based on your attendance over a 12-month period.......

....In terms of the absence/attendance standards the agreement moves to a standard of 3 absences or 12 days over a rolling 12 month period for each stage of the attendance reviews

Massive win for the CWU there

Performance Management & Data Use

RM Previous Position – The business stated they had invested tens of millions of pounds in new technology that couldn’t be used to have performance conversations

Proposed Agreement – Data will now be used.....in a supportive manner

Yeah not too sure I like the sound of that term
"performance conversation" can you imagine how that will go with the general calibre they employ as managers, what if they give them the power to put you on some sort of tiered warning of possible dismissal system like a cross between the conduct code and the sickness attendance stages, worrying times ahead I think.

Thank you for the insight Tony. I see no other alternative other than to vote Yes.

Tony,

Thank you for your post. One simple question. If you were on the tools would you vote yes?

And will you vote yes when they want your mail centre to close? Because they'll be coming for you lot sooner than you think

Thanks Tony for that long winded and frankly quite boring read.
You haven't told me or probably anyone else anything they didn't already know.
We weren't born yesterday and most people have already made up their minds a long time ago when we were first meant to vote, remember that, before the union decided to delay everything as they were terrified of a no vote.
The time for talking was over a long time ago, so again quite frankly i don't need patronised i want my democratic vote and you can deal with the outcome either way.

Thank you Tony for that thoughtful and comprehensive breakdown of the agreed deal, and taking all circumstances on board, including the current deepening recession and interest rates going back up again, it's definitely a Yes from me.

The £900 is very handy too in these hard times, and I am most appreciative and grateful for all the hard work the CWU have put in for this less than perfect deal, in very trying and difficult conditions and negotiations.

there was absolutely no need to agree a 2% pay rise for year 24/25

There is almost zero chance that core inflation currently at 8.7% and retail inflation (think food and household stuff) currently at 11.3% will be down to 5% by next March - infact inflation is still trending UP !!! And yet you agreed 2% - why????????????

inflation in 2022 was 10% and we got 2%
inflation in 2023 likely 8-9% - and we get 6% plus bungs

So only in 2023 are we matching inflation and what they have paid us this year they will make back by vastly underpaying us in 2024
