The wind was taken from their sails once details of the deal were released & anti-CWU stuff started to be posted on here

Once they were no longer in the minority their constant trolling became irrelevant, the shock value, gone…

I’m still here. There’s not much to say because iv said it already. It’s only now that people realise that ST got what he wanted and the union sold you all out.
I never fell for all the ā€œsolidarity!ā€, ā€œwin the ballot win the dispute!ā€ Nonsense and I’m glad I didn’t give up days of work ā€˜fighting’ for this deal.
Now I just read through some threads and see that ST really has done what he was hired to do.
But I don’t comment much. Saves the abuse. But I’ll comment now to say hello.

I blocked them both ages ago and I won't read anything they're quoted in. Pair of trolls nothing more.

Why would they expect you to carry on saying the same things when most of the things said have come to past...

It goes to show that Filthy especially was not here just to wind people up. Like him, I want the whole things resolved as quickly as possible; and it is just about the money: we can leave the management to Royal Mail. And CWU might be useful but they don't pay our wages; and in this case, they have lost us money.

Collective bargaining might be a good thing but with the CWU, they have also undersold the members/workers with some of their past dodgy deals...

* They are missing you Filthy!

Well I’m not sure they are missing me!
I had zero faith in the CWU from day one, nobody wanted to hear it then. I’m not in the CWU but it was clear that ST was not going to budge and the one day/two day strikes were pointless.

In January I said this…
ā€œPost 01 Jan 2023, 20:34

I don’t think much will be agreed until April.
That’s when we will get a 13/14% pay rise with quite a few changes imo.
CWU will claim victory but it will only be such a pay rise because we haven’t had one this year.
I doubt much will be back dated either.

Might even be that ST steps down around then so a new CEO can come in with a deal already made so he is starting from a clean slate and can start his slashing terms philosophy Without his workforce and the union being on his back straight awayā€¦ā€

In the end my post turned out to be optimistic (unless you count the lump sum as part of the pay rise) but it wasn’t great insight or Nostradamus skills. It was predictable. At a time when we needed a strong union we probably have our weakest. Empty promises and slogans. A deal that is, for most, terrible.

Now it’s gone full swing. From ā€œsupport your union, vote YES!ā€ It’s become ā€œignore your union and vote NO!ā€

And none of that makes me happy. The job ain’t what it used to be. I just accepted the changes a long time ago. I made my decision to ignore the union and I wasn’t willing to lose money on a fight they were never going to win. Like I said, I never believed in the ā€œsolidarityā€ and ā€œwin the ballot win the disputeā€ chat.

I don’t feel smug or pleased that people are turning on their union. The union should be a force for food in the workplace. But I’m also at ease with the fact people ignore me or throw insults. The fact I’m mentioned in a thread title is a nice surprise.

Like I said time and time again, mental health is key. Don’t let the job get you down.
