Why are we getting packets down in these plastic sleeves from the mail centre,have they been passed by the union.

They really are back-breakers near the bottom. But you should be given a 'shovel', which is useless. (It is also bigger than some of work colleagues!)

Basically, no, it’s not been agreed but Royal Mail are pressing ahead with the use of the new plastic sleeves anyway.

The key quotes are..

Consultation has taken place with the Health, Safety and Environment Department, during which we have repeatedly expressedour serious concerns and reservations regarding the replacement of Red Mk2A Auto-Level Packet (ALP) York Container Sleeves with these ‘bottomless’, White ‘Correx’ Plastic Sleeves in the ‘Manual Sorting Operation’ and we expressed the view that if Royal
Mail was to introduce them, then they should be used in the ‘Automation Operation’ only. Royal Mail Operational management rejected that idea and want to drive the ‘Correx’ sleeves in everywhere.

However, instead of considering the Trial outcome before proceeding any further, the Trial process was truncated and unilaterally
abandoned with the decision taken to press on with the roll-out of the ‘Correx White Plastic Sleeves’ irrespective of the Trial outcomes and conclusions making the whole exercise nothing but a ‘sham’.
It is clear that yesterday’s ‘go-live date of 30 May rolling out the ‘Correx’ sleeves nationally via both the automation and manual operations had always been the pre-determined outcome. Clearly it would appear that the national RM operational management project team are ignoring everything and everyone!

We receive 20 to 30 a shift so only doing a hour max is only 5 would get done.what about cuts to arms and legs due to sharp edges I have many.

Royal mail are apparently pushing for us to go green, removing flights, electric vans etc. Then they go ahead and commission the production of all this plastic. Which doesn't last as long as red fabric elastic sleeves.

I reckon that it must be around 50% these plastic sleeves that pass through the MC now, they've started to get used occasionally for large parcels as well (eventually all large parcels will be in them).

No one uses the shovel/pooper scooper as there's to much risk of hitting someone as they walk by the belt tipping

More need to use the snow shovel as the time it takes to empty one white monstrosity, you could have emptied 2 normal yorks.

As for H&S these things are worse than paper cuts, am waiting for the moment when its only the white sleeves as it stated you can only sort from them for 1hr then you need to rotate off them.
