3 days to 4 (or 5) same hours ...what's rules on this

Post by nuns »

24 hours over 3 days going to over 4 days.
Some even put on same hours over 5 days.
Can they just do this? The part timers now doing more % of work some days compared to full timers on quilter days as they getting finished earlier ( part time finish time earlier and later finish time full time ) means work wise not treated the same
As for 37 hours they are even more % better off.

The whole part time issue in Royal Mail is a joke , the union could have achieved much better working patterns down the years . Why not 24 hour contracts mon to weds or thurs to Saturday etc. Making someone come in for 24 hours spread over 5 days is ridiculous. I’m sure you’d get plenty of elderly posties willing to drop down in hours if RM were more flexible on part time hours.

Because the move towards part time employment is driven by reductions in indoor work.
Having part timers in to work full time hours on less days doesn't lead to any reductions.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

You are only contracted to 24 hours per week, the amount of days you work and the times can be changed - it should be agreed with the CWU locally - they cannot changed your 24 hours up or down without your agreement but as said amount of days and times can be changed unfortunately

You could easily have a mix , we often have part time staff asked to come in to work full time hours , some say yes some say no . The point is you could easily have better duty structures for PT staff which would also work for older full time staff looking to buy down on their hours.
