Is the tactic to run the clock down?

Post by k979aaa »

The ballot is still live till the 16th of August is this a tactic to run the clock down on that mandate for action so we have to accept this fait accompli. As another ballot would be impossible with the events since the last one given the actions or lack of actions since the last one!

Well I am not telling anyone how to vote on this crap deal but we should all have a vote on this NOW if the deal is rejected amend it do not disenfranchise those who pay your wages CWU. Even if it is rejected they could call action and gain a better deal there is no valid reason not to send the ballot papers out NOW!

Delivery offices dont deliver mail these days, so also need to factor in the delays in delivery from despatch.

Added to the hundreds leaving per week and the hundreds leaving the union.

Its all one big stall.

At the moment they are waiting to have a Zoom meeting whilst most delivery offices are in sinders - very good :left:

For an institution that is was built on democracy the CWU is failing on this issue this is a vote on the deal not a vote on the union of which it is fast becoming because of the events in the last six weeks!

It’s not gone that well for RM either. There plans for a 5 day delivery are in tatters.
The revisions are a joke, sooner or later some thing has to be done regarding them.
There plans for delivery offices getting mail later are at best “we think around this time”
5 trains from the brand new super hub down to 1 as cost to high!
Trucks/Vans are shot/knackered!
Can no longer keep staff.
USO shot to hell & will not improve without major surgery.
If it was not so serious you would say I’m in a twilight movie here!

IF they run the clock down we could all make a claim against our union for negligent representation and demand a change of leadership, maybe get rid of the CWU and get another union ,now that would be a first maybe bring some of these weak unions back in line.

That would be the final straw for me and I’d be pulling my subs. Just about hanging on in there as it is.

If a zoom call takes this long why not use the postal service!

The strike action ballot is dead anyway so there isn't a clock to run down or any great conspiracy to do so.

If this deal was rejected and if we were in so bad a place that the union had to call fresh industrial action they would need a fresh ballot.

Too much has changed from the position that the union called the original ballot on. It would not be a credible valid ballot and Royal Mail would be straight to court to prove it.

One of the consequences of rejection unfortunately.

Nothing has changed but time since jan 2023 as to the ballots previous of 2022 well we did not do a good enough job union and workers and the CWU!

The original ballot was to achieve an agreement.
An agreement was achieved which the CWU endorsed.
The ballot is no longer valid.
The courts would agree.

After a rejection there would have to be new negotiators and new aims, probably new leaders... and a new ballot.
