Severe Gales 0001 Mon 10 0600 Tue 11
The Met Office continues to expect an intense low pressure system to move east across the UK during Monday, bringing severe gales and potentially damaging gusts across some areas. Southerly winds are expected to strengthen during the early hours of Monday to give severe gales, with an additional swathe of westerly severe gales to follow later on Monday into the early hours of Tuesday. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected but there remains a possibility of 80 mph gusts over exposed coasts and hills. Much depends on the exact track of the low centre but at this stage, parts of Wales and the southern half of England continue to be considered at greatest risk. Disruption could occur to transport and power supplies and there may be damage to buildings. This warning will be updated around 1100 on Sunday 9th March 2008.

The risk in the south has risen fron 60% chance to a 70% chance and some reports are saying could be as strong as 100mph winds, force 12.

Southerly winds are expected to strengthen during the early hours of Monday to give severe gales for a time, coinciding with the morning rush hour in some areas. An additional swathe of severe westerly gales will follow through the morning and afternoon, principally affecting southwest England and the south coast of England. Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are likely with the possibility of 80 mph gusts on exposed coasts and hills. Disruption to transport and power supplies is possible and there may be damage to buildings and trees. In addition high waves and flooding may affect coastal areas in the south. This warning is likely to be superseded by FLASH messages.

What does amaze me is that there is nowt on the CWU site about Adverse Weather - which is frankly mind boggling for the amount of outdoor workers we have in the industry.

My Desktop Weather Forecaster - Weather Pulse. - says:

For Monday:

Belfast - Cloudy with a few showers. High around 4C. SSE winds shifting to NE at 16-32 km/h. Chance of rain 30%.

Cardiff - Windy with a few showers possible. High 7C. Winds SW at 40-56 km/h. Chance of rain 30%.

London - Windy with periods of rain. High 9C. Winds SW at 40-64 km/h. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch.

My advice would be if it seam's dangerous ie slate's flying of roof's and tree's crashing down around you!. Get the hell out of their and deal with the DOM later for we are our own health and safety officer's out on the street's!. STAY SAFE AND TAKE CARE OUT THEIR TOMORROW!.

We've had fair warning here in Bristol of bad weather to come Sunday night/Monday all day.
Keep safe out there, and DO NOT place yourself in jeopardy, under any circumstances. If it is not safe to do a walk then do not do it. Your H&S rep., if worth his/her salt, and I must say, if the CMA rep has any sense, will back you.

I would, without hesitation.
