Every week the back pay to this April goes up by about 30 bob so they are hoping to let this pot build until it’s a big enough carrot to sell the deal to unenlightened members or ones who will jump ship as soon as they get a good pay out.

We are now in a position where we have a deal in place that the union knows is not popular amongst some of it’s members and that they believe is the best deal that can be achieved.
So it feels like they are manipulating the ballot so as to increase the pot in hope that it will sway some votes in the favour of a yes vote and tbh in my office it has to some degree.
There are members now who have lost interest in the vote and just want the back pay then start looking for other work.

Depends how long they are in the company for. If it's been years since they've been in the company I can see them rejecting this deal. Those that haven't will vote it in due to not thinking of staying the long term and will take the money and jet. Outside the company it's actually pretty normal for people to hop job to job. Loyalty doesn't get you squat nowadays, just a thought process we go through to feel better in a company that constantly treats you like s**t. I put it this way, it wouldn't be the first job I've quit, and it won't be the last job I quit in neither.

Depends how long they are in the company for. If it's been years since they've been in the company I can see them rejecting this deal. Agree entirely !! We are just dispensable manpower to this employer. Couple guys died at our d.o recently - after the announcement by COM not even a mention afterwards and next day somebody else doing their duty. Going over and beyond for this company as many have done and continue to do is pointless. Some will say it is a matter of personal pride. I would say personal respect entails making sure you are not abused. Ever.

These days we're just a number to RM. I suspect it could well also be the case for local management (upto COM/MCM level) as these days it seems like that just implement whatever they're ordered to by higher up, even if they know what they've been ordered to implement will completely f**k things up

Another 2 days gone by - get the ballot out - its now mid June - why does it take 2 months to sit around a table and discuss how RM are not adhering to what they agreed to? What's new?

You can bet your last dollar that we would have already voted back in April if the union were confident a YES vote would be returned.

It takes two months because looking at them clowns 🤡 representing the CWU.They seem a lot bigger round the waistline. R M must be supplying free 🥧 pie’s at each meeting. Unite are giving their members a vote. I bet they get their votes. Take a lesson from that union Stan n Ollie.

For a company that is desperate for this deal as the union says (not sure whether it was Walsh or Webb that said it) , it's taking its sweet ass time actually trying to get this deal through the door 🤷 Ain't no way a zoom call takes this long to set up. The face to face I guess it's harder if they are moving around place to place but they literally can talk anywhere in a video call FFS. What in the hell are the union waiting for?? Is the progress they made that they are now caller number #30 in the queue?? Or has the receptionist told them they will ring you back in an hour and it's been over a week?? Whole thing reeks of desperation, not from the company side but from union side.

They will keep spinning the bs until the end of the year when the lump will be chunky in an attempt to sell the deal.

Feel like they've f****d themselves over by delaying it this long honestly. I'd say it would have been a close call but would have seen the deal go through it things went like they normally do had they not spent weeks just trying to butter up the deal and just going at odds with its own members online when questioned about the agreement. Didn't help their case neither when one of the responses was the agreement would magically sort out the revisions. The major salt to the wound was actually pulling the ballot at the very last hour due to U-turning and saying they can't offer it if company isn't behaving well. Okayyyyy, well it didn't stop you from getting an agreement out of them before, so why now?
