Please help me!

Post by jane120101 »

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am the mother of a British student. A very important undergraduate diploma of my child was sent from the Royal Mail on April 21st. It should have arrived on May 6th, but it was sent back because the address was not detailed enough. This letter is very important to us, because we need it for the visa in June. Now the logistics show it is on the common carrier back to England. I would like to know if you could send this letter back to China to me as soon as you receive it.

Looks like a delivery was attempted twice and on both attempts there was no answer and now it's stuck trying to be returned. Obviously this assumes delivery was attempted at the correct address - if the address was incomplete, unclear, or the label was damaged, then both the attempts may have been to the wrong locations.

Can you get a copy of the letter and send again? This is probably your best bet for overall speed of delivery. If so make sure the address is 100% accurate and clear and resend with a return address. Who knows why it's failing to be returned (it just says "Unable to Export - insufficient documentation" - perhaps no return address used?) but it ultimately may be quicker to resend. You can only claim 25 days after the missed tracked international intended delivery date at the very earliest which should be OK now being that the original dispatch was on April 21st, but claiming may still not necessarily get your letter back but may get Royal Mail to look into it further.

Do note: this site is just for UK posties and not for contacting Royal Mail directly. Try: https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... l/a_id/325

I would suggest getting a copy re-sent ASAP and also putting in a complaint may be best.

The address given by us was correct, but Royal Mail said it was not delivered because the address was unclear. We can't see the address now, and the letter of the diploma is still at sea, and we don't know when it will arrive in England. We are in such a hurry that we don't know what to do.

I don't know which UK university issued the confirmation letter of diploma, but I'd suggest getting another copy. Some institutions can even email them and this may help get it across the world quickly.
