The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.
RMs past behaviour doesn’t bode well for sticking to any agreements in the future.

I still don't get this one year on.......RM pulled out of the agreement because the agreement allowed them to do that if there was national IA. There were many posts about a legally binding agreement and if RM "walked away" why didn't the CWU take them to court? It was because they used the very same agreement to walk away.

Yep. I'm intrigued as to what people think plan b is.......strikes didn't work. They literally laughed at us at Xmas when we were out. Strike for a week? Er yeah good luck with that. All I ever seem to see in here is burn it to ground, the government will take over, the government won't let R.M go under blah blah......lets have a plan b put forward.Woody Guthrie wrote: ↑01 Jun 2023, 17:32So what do people propose to try to change Royal Mail's behaviour?
We've tried strikes.
We've tried rallies.
We've tried parliament.
Genuinely interested in what you guys see as a better plan, more of the above?

I hope that's why they are stalling the ballot.
Plan A is not working.

Off to collect my winnings from the bookie, joint statement within 6 months and here we go again ! ! Right then. Reverse the revision's, go fully staffed, 100% clearance every day, RM admitting they are wrong, CWU stopping the unagreed changes ha ha , would it be a benefit to let it go bust and ,(maybe) return with decent jobs ? with shareholders driven into hell. Don't fancy your chances tbh

How the CWU allowed RM to put such a clause in an agreement is totally beyond me???freespeech wrote: ↑01 Jun 2023, 18:03I still don't get this one year on.......RM pulled out of the agreement because the agreement allowed them to do that if there was national IA. If I was negotiating I would have said OK you can have such a clause but in return we also want a clause added stating that all future annual payrises will match inflation or 2%, whichever is greater.
If our pay keeps up with inflation that takes away 80% of the reason for IA

Any "plan B" would depend entirely on Royal Mail's reaction to a rejection of this deal.Union have had enough time to come up with "Plan B"
I hope that's why they are stalling the ballot.
Plan A is not working.
1) We don't know what that reaction might be.
2) We don't even know if the membership will reject the deal.
Under those circumstances and bearing in mind all of those who come up with the plans believe in the agreement as the best way forward who exactly do you believe is rooting around in the plan cupboard looking for B?
That's the danger, this goes south then everything is off the table and we go back to square one, this isn't a choice between plan A and plan B.

and this is actually how you get RM to concede, work to your time, let them deal with the stress and pile upbillycat wrote: ↑01 Jun 2023, 17:33our manager called a meeting this morning regarding the revision that has been implemented he is struggling to cover the volume that is been returned to the office on our finish time he asked us is their anything he could implement to make the office run more efficient we were all in agreement keep the duties as they are because this is the only time in the twenty years i have worked at royal mail that nobody finishes early and if anybody wants overtime its plentiful the managers are paid a good salary to manage also the majority of our office will be supporting the union when the ballot comes out.
Did he offer you any of his bonus to do his job for him?

That would be for the union, yes the union to have a plan B.
Don't tell me they took us into this dispute with no plan B.
Or maybe they did have a plan B but after RM threatend to stop taking the unions subs and stop releasing reps the union shat it and decided to sell us out much better to have cwu back in the workplace except they will be completely impotent just the way RM wants it .
That threat has worked this time so it will work again if they need to use it again
So anybody out there on pec want to tell us what there original plan B was ?
Or did you really take us into to this dispute with with no plan B which would be stupidity of the highest order .
I often hear ward and furey use military terms like surrender document, frontline ext ect so here's one for you lot on pec I'm sure you'll understand.
The generals marched us into battle then shat it and ran away while the troops are still fighting off the enemy .
That would be a court marshall for the generals .
Back in the day they would likely be shot ,nowdays jail time.
Time for pec to hear our voice .
And if you've no plan B then resign your position.
Still voting no.

Why have a vote then. Its like having a election with only one candidate.

There wont be a plan B.
Or if there were, seems it was a strings vest pay rise , that attacks every term and condition and alters shift times.
They've been played a blinder.
Vote No.

Plan B for the CWU seems to be to convince it's members to accept Plan A because this is the best offer they are likely to get from the RM

You can't have a pre-preparef plan B in a constantly evolving situation.
Any plan to deal with moving forward after a rejection would have to come after the rejection.
You could have a flow chart full of ifs and thens but until you know the reaction of the business you can't plan on how to counter it and move the situation on because there are too many variables.
Would RM be up for renegotiation or would they just cut their losses and plow on with their changes?
Would we need another ballot?
Would Dave and Andy walk away?
Who would negotiate for us?
Which parts of the agreement would need to be renegotiated?
What do we do about pay?
If the vote is inconclusive how do you put pressure on Royal Mail if almost half of your membership think this deal is acceptable?
There's loads more and it will get messy before a "plan B" can even take shape.

Re: CWU Facebook: The employer has accepted the need for a joint statement and more importantly, a set of agreed actions on these issues.
Surely Plan A should have been to achieve an inflation based pay rise and protect the terms and conditions of their members.
Plan B should have been how to persuade an unwilling employer to accept Plan A.
Royal Mail have delivered an absolutely atrocious service to their customers and the CWU have kept pushing that point. Well the CWU have delivered an equally absolutely atrocious service to their members and heads must roll.
The union leadership have failed you all. Their best chance of a yes vote would be to offer their resignations if members vote for their "deal" and then perhaps seek to merge the union with another that has competent leadership.
