Must admit, he's right. Using cars on delivery saves on the buying and maintenance of proper RM vehicles but has nothing to do with making other posties go faster or creating job losses. Unless I've missed something here. The original thinking behind 'not using cars on delivery' was to do with removing 'good will' - it has nothing to do with setting the time it takes to complete a walk.

Yes, it's quite a business empire. I'm led to believe the CWU cornered the market with their branded ball-point pens, sales hit the roof with over a
dozen pens more, sold this year, than in 1928. :Applause

Diaries........There's a rumour that the CWU will be re-launching the best-selling 1933 diary, this product helped the CWU record record profits of
£16 10s 6d for 1933...........Heady days indeed.

reminds me of L & C

Al appears in freshly pressed pink shirt; "Right I won't bullshit you, you know me lads. Thing is we can't help on the pensions cos truth is, we've run out of money - show them the tin Adam" - Crozier tips out contents of old rusty Huntley & Palmers tin on desk - a threepenny bit and an old spangle. Crozier in his best scottish voice; "Aye Allan thats right. My swimming pool alone cost £100,000 and we've had to put plans for a new extension on ice. What we need is for all of our people to work just that wee bit harder and the tin can be refilled"

So if anyone wants to use there cars after years of UNION against the use of... Then they only have there selves to blame. When they call for "FAIR PLAY AND A OPEN VOICE.." They wont get it from me.... WHY SHOULD I..?? They flaunt the union and the guildlines when it suits them... Then they will be the same ones asking for help when the union fails them from getting shafted from RM for putting more work on there duties... (ONLY BECAUSE THEY (CAR USERS AND EARLYBIRD. ROAD RUNNERS.) CUT THE JOB UP IN FIRST PLACE....

well at least this time there was no mention of them burning horribly in their cars tommo so i thankyou.

but you may have failed to read my post as you went over the same ground again

if your super duper fast on your round for whatever reason be it car use Olympic sprinting or fart propelled your not just going to turn up one day and be told to do this as well seeing as your so fast.the whole round would need re timing and as we ALL would take the piss and do it by the numbers . it will never happen. so its a union scare story you've fallen hook line and sinker for.

Its fine being pro union as long as you dont lose sight of the fact the union works for you not the other way around as you seem to have said.your union the cwu is a business ,to confirm this just look at all their products.be they hats scarves loans or pet insurance.and as a buisness its their job to do the same as royal mail..make money....more post men means more money..give the peasents a bone to chew on and more people join.between the union and their puppet masters labour they've clearly got you stitched up like kippers....and still it falls on deaf ears

again not one job will be lost due to a few using their cars ,me coming in early ...cwu is big business
To start with.... My last post wasnt directed at you as no mention of your name was there,,, It was to Night tonic.... SO why the feck should i read your post...?

Is it you think you feel your posts are more valid than anyone elses???

Ahhh well...

Back to the point.... I agree with your points on the union being a BUSINESS ie wanting more in the coffers and not offering enough service to its members.. I cant agree more fella.... But as for the Union scare story.... DONT PAINT ME WITH THE SAME BRUSH AS ANYONE ELSE... You are asking for open free speech from this site and now label me with being "stitched up like a kipper." ... Im me .. Not some union mouth piece... I do feel SOME of your points are valid... But you giving it large giving me advice like some guru... Like i want or need it from you!!! Is wrong... I understand the union thanks very much and IF you read some of my past posts as many as i have had... YOU would also note that i do slag the union and mostly HQ in there workings and i row with many a rep who only in my opinion . Toe the party line and give them selves a leg up the ladder.. Ive had dealings with people from HQ... Still am.... So dont tell me shite!!!!

Thats me getting all moody and railed up ... Now for the chill.... :cool

The Burning in the cars bit is a bit... Over the top.. Just... But i feel so strong about the use of cars that i cant let it go...

The fact that all offices that have been using vans to accelerate posties to there walks n back HAVE made duties in there offices!!!

Plain and simple... IT WORKS IN OUR FAVOUR... NOT RM and not really even in the CWU's HQ corner... US,,, THE MEMBERS...

The HQ when they want another sit down .. Feck all else to do... They can drag the car issue out again.. As they have many times out before.. Soon to die a death thru lack of backing of reps and area... Then from the top... Information and backing from our mouth pieces was and are needed more than ever.,,,, BUT after this last result in the ballot.... AREA AND LOCAL reps will be under more and more pressure to get deals fro there units...

SO.,. wot the feck are the pec and HQ gonna do for there jobs?????

ALL I KNOW IS,,, A LOT LESS FOR THE MEMBERS... UNLESS WE MAKE A STAND AND ELECT PEOPLE FROM GRASS ROOTS WHO WONT FORGTET THERE PLACE IN THE WORKERS STRUGGLE.....

OUT

So what you are saying then is that car users and walkers will do the job in exactly the same time!!!
In my office, when the car users stopped using their cars the place came to a stand still, and an extra van was put in.
We now have a scared DOM who knows we're on a time limit for when we can go out and if we miss it we're f****d.

When you are in the position i am in then maybe you will see what most of us are on about.
Try it at your place and see what happens.............go on.............or aint you got the bollocks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Well thats true but I fear its way too late now. I still maintain it was over when that YES vote came. Even if it had been a NO and every postal worker in the land stayed out for months, it wouldn't change anything. Royal Mail will get smaller no matter what we do. More jobs will go and the penson is shot.

I still don't see what cars have to do with timing of walks. I've yet to see a walk timed using someones car. Even if we had a situation where one of us used their own car, and another took it over, we'd have it retested anyway. Rep would soon see to that.

the reason i say this is one to stop the runner's and two to brake up the working day into manageable chunk's.

No one uses their own cars at our offfice - no need to as we have transport anyway but if I get the jist of what you're saying, non-car use is purely an excercise in making life difficult. Either way, the time on a walk shouldn't be based on using your own car. Rep must be crap if it is. Our office wouldn't stand for it. Out of principle I wouldn't use a car on a walk otherwise you end up saving RM time at your own expense, let alone the wear and tear. That said, the time to do it is the time to do it, if someone did use their own car they just get finished earlier and go up the cafe. L Tommo - I think you rattle yourself.

There are walks up and down the land that have not been tested for years, that's the way it is.
At our place,we had pegasus and they threw the findings out because it gave us walks.
Now i understand to a certain extent what you are saying, but down the years offices have never had a proper revision, dutys have never properly been tested,i know of many down my way.
What's happened is the volume of work has gone up over the years, you of all people should know that.
But because of the early starters the break missers and the car users it hasn't shown certain walks/offices up for what they really are.
That is exactly what has happened down my way,and no doubt it has happened everywhere else.
Just for ONE day if the whole of the UK stopped using their cars, would you really say that nothing would happen and it's just a good will thing.

We have given RM more goodwill than any other workforce ever has ,and because of it we are being shagged.
Now it's time to stop, full stop!

If it has worked down my piddley DO then it would work every where else, just be ready for pay stoppages and threats!!
