How we Square the circle
This whole dispute has been one of the worst in my time in RM but we have a deal of sorts and most hate this deal but we cannot go on this path of enforced change forever we need an agreement. As to if this agreement meets those challenges is not for me but a frame work should be in place for the sake of us all to dispute that this is a good deal. I cannot tell people I know to vote for a s**t show of a deal and leave them wondering about this so called deal and not tell the world you all about it. Thing is we could go all out tomorrow we have the mandate for it till Christmas will it change anything that is your call? And if we win there is the money coming from?
As a response I would say mitigation of the deal is a better idea ie some of the terms and policy's would not happen ie the 2009 agreement was not fully enacted and may I say with out a workforce they have nothing!

By any chance, are you related to Gerald Cooper of Clarkson's Farm fame?

The fact is I am a realist and sooner you realize we are f****d in terms of a pay rise and impositions revisions or dictations in our working lives.
Strike till the cows come home honestly it will not make a jot of difference. We all should of refused to work during the COVID19 and done what the rest of the population did diddly squat! And not have this burdon up on us all of a lying fat cat who has sicince departed!

Why should we have refused to work through COVID 19 ?k979aaa wrote: ↑27 May 2023, 19:17The fact is I am a realist and sooner you realize we are f****d in terms of a pay rise and impositions revisions or dictations in our working lives.

I count myself lucky that I wasn't locked into four walls day in day out. Yes, we had a risk of contracting COVID, so did everyone else. The guys in processing were at higher risk than us on delivery . Once we were outside it was good, busy but ,good doing what we could. Still hate that the mail was deliberately withheld .
You, I , or anyone else don't really know the consequences of further IA. But we do know the consequences of capitulation and simply agreeing because it's hard or because we're to tired or to brow beaten.
Saying yes will not improve anything for me.
Saying no might.

Re: How we Square the circle
My solution is we lost this battle long before we voted for strike last year and while we mitigated and changed Royal Mails plans and that is an achievement we can all be proud of
But the union should not of said we can better deal without strings and this still ranks with some till this day!
If you think you can do better than the CWU leadership put up or shut up and I rather you all chuck your hat in the ring and some competition like we have had for the last 20 years!

An agreement just for the sake of it?
Regardless whether it's to our advantage, or not?
Thanks, but no thanks.

Dead against this deal but so far 1) revisions forced through 2) thousands have left the company 3) the uso will go to 5 days fairly soon. All designed to save RM £millions - and I guess it has worked. Can't imagine any deal will change much, so get the 2year VR going - by next year please, an incredible place to work for 30 years - now a minefield of hate and distrust.

Saying yes will earn you a pay rise, a lump sum and keep you employed. Saying no will lose this pay rise, this lump sun, will have changes come in anyway, and risk your job.
People who are voting no because they think things will remain the same are deluded at this point. Look around you.

Vote yes and we've lost (we have gained nothing),vote NO and we still have a chance (and we dont lose anymore than we have already lost) its a no brainer.

Re: How we Square the circle
I think the deal is poor but voting no will just mean we will not have a pay rise and lump sum and RM will just impose changes without agreement anyway. RM were prepared to see us strike over xmass and didn’t give a monkey’s so the union sadly has very little influence now.
