Results,then what happens?
Royal Mail announce the financial results on Thursday. If they are as bad as they & the CWU keep saying, what happens next? Does that once again mean that RM go back to Ofcom & try to persuade them to reduce the uso by at least a day. It is obvious to us all that there is a plan,as we just deliver letters every other day. I suppose it’s wishful thinking, that the next CEO will come in with the mindset of giving customers the service that should be getting(daily deliveries) Saying that I do expect RM to promote from within, probably McPherson! Should be interesting on Thursday,& the spin that’s going to be coming!

Re: Results,then what happens?
It seems that the CWU as part of this agreement are on board with a reduction of the USO.
3.1.4 RMG remains committed to providing its Universal Service Obligation. RMG and CWU will also work together on a plan to ensure the USO can be sustained in the longer term. Where appropriate, the company and CWU will jointly approach the government and Ofcom to discuss shared views on the future of the USO;

I think it's fair to say whoever takes over will be a vile specimen. A sociopath at the very least.

Royal mail have factored any fine that the totally useless ombudsman can impose.
It's been accounted for and no doubt Royal Mail will give grovelling apologies.
And laugh

all the way to the bank.

How do you land a job like this? It's so easy. Anyone could sell off assets split a business post privatisation to syphon off the profitable bits. It's practically candy from a baby. Gls was bought for the exact purpose of cross subsidising by Royal mail using public money. Gls has become the burden. Its almost as if this was set up lol. Another ideological privatisation. Good old tories gotta love em. Why can't we have a forward thinking ceo not a short term fast buck scumbag. It's always the same with national assets.

Well I expect it is quite high pressured. I mean what do you say to your other half when you go home.? Unless you're an inbred management couple.richj2009 wrote: ↑15 May 2023, 18:23How do you land a job like this? It's so easy. But what the f do the Employee's of OFCOM do
During the day.?
Because I can tell you that OFCOM are not unaware about the total failure of the USO.
I have grassed RM to them for years.
I have an open investigated case .
Last contact with my OFCOM oppo was.
"Well, what do you expect me to do?"
f**k all apparently

Re: Results,then what happens?
They'll probably use this as more of an excuse not to give us more of a payrise if anything and Ofcom will fine them despite RM blaming it on strikes being the cause of the delays even though not strikes in nearly half a year now and walks are at their worst in clearing
Don't think Ofcom will grant them the five day service just yet since letters haven't fallen too that point in their eyes. just RM is just being absolutely s**t and not upholding their bargain, intentionally delaying letters in favour of parcels. People are not stupid when you turn up with a parcel on a consistent basis and you get a huge chunk of mail posted in your postbox on the odd day.

Re: Results,then what happens?
Exactly. Before the latest revision we had over 20 vacancies in our office. Rough estimate 20 vacancies x £25,000pa = £500,000 per year saved in just one office from deliberate understaffing and over 1000 delivery units across the country. You can see why they don’t care about any potential fine of a couple of million.koolishy67 wrote: ↑15 May 2023, 19:07Don't worry they saved enough failing that many walks they are happy to pay fine

Where, where are the Union in all of this ?
They have been missing for years in Do's.
This is across the board now... Missing on delivery, missing in processing.
Time to stand up Dave Ward or step down.
It's a No vote. Take it.

Re: Results,then what happens?
Why do you have to constantly tell people you're voting no?
The one's that say "I'm leaving the Union if it's a yes vote" How selfish is that?
If the majority vote yes, even if you don't agree with it, you have to accept it. That is part of being in a Union, is it not?
