A reasonable argument @ Ruckus, unfortunately not reasonable people we are dealing with. We might all be big boys in a big boys world, they are rich boys in a rich boys world and cash is king!
Whole company needs a re-set with some forward thinking people involved.
Until that happens i fear for our future, the floggings and beatings will continue as they have decided rightly or wrongly that their vision for RM is the right one.
Only problem they have is US and we are not scared of them!
Feck them in their ivory towers.
Well maybe not the floggings and beatings.
In a ideal world it all sounds plausible, if only we lived in it.

You're going to get a lot of negativity on here because most of us have worked for the company for years and we know its inevitable what direction RM want to take us in - the gig economy.ruckus wrote: ↑15 May 2023, 18:25Yes out in all weathers and got soaked (along with all the mail) a week ago and so a decent waterproof jacket and rain repellent shorts would have been nice - now looking to cook for a while as the weather is heating up. I was just throwing in examples at random and trying to be creative - don't read them as things I necessarily want or are my priority.![]()
Your reply does highlight that if we were all to list what we really wanted we may get a lot of different answers!
Note: I saw the printer idea today here: viewtopic.php?p=1055514#p1055514 - I didn't think it up.
But don't let that stifle your creative thinking! I'm still waiting for one of those trikes that royal mail brought out a few years ago (maybe they've decommissioned it??). Must be costing the company a small fortune though driving round in all these vans and it's not very eco friendly either. We would surely get less C02 emissions per parcel delivered.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Yes! As long as they are easy to ride up hills and not adding to the job. Otherwise I think small nippy electric vehicles you can jump in and out of quickly (keyless entry etc.) and park almost anywhere could help. And being single crewed could actually help with the aches and pains we all complain about. You could move the vehicle a bit more and do shorter loops on your own with a lighter bag and when its raining the smaller bundle doesn't get as soaked through as much because you're leaving chunks in the vehicle and carrying less.postslippete wrote: ↑15 May 2023, 19:28I'm still waiting for one of those trikes that royal mail brought out a few years ago (maybe they've decommissioned it??). Never been to Banbury in my life, but picking Morris Drive totally at random you could tie up differently...

Apologies if someone on here actually does that road and I have the red line wrong!

Re: Scotland No 2 says 'NO'
People keep thinking of themselves as individuals with opinions and feelings and trying to rationalise any decisions being made. The fact of the matter is Royal Mail do not give a TOSS. We are nothing to them. Absolutely nothing. We are just a moving object on a screen with small and big circles round us. Our health and well being mean nothing to them as we as individuals are nothing to them.
