Let's see what Lou says when they suddenly offer the extra bung just before the ballot.
You know, the one that even reps on here have pretty much guaranteed is coming.
But, hey, there's nothing more to offer, right?
Finding a few more quid before the vote is one thing, expecting somehow that a no result will turn back the clocks and we will pretend we aren’t working for a privatised company and we will receive a recession breaking pay-rise on the same T&Cs, is another. The business is bleeding money right now, unless you have seen the books and can prove otherwise?
If there is more to offer in the event of a no result, why do you think they are even scrambling to find this money and are begging you to vote for this deal along with PEC members likewise? What do you know that they don’t in regard what we could achieve with a no vote?
If you haven't seen the books and can prove otherwise then how can you possibly know that the business is bleeding money right now?
Because negotiators and the PEC have. Why even pay your dues if you don’t think the union is working in your best interest?
Why do you think all parties involved in discussions are begging for this deal to be voted in? If you can answer without unsubstantiated conspiracy theories that would be great.

Not all branches have chosen to accept the deal - Glasgow and South East, for example. This suggests that the CWU is not entirely united across the board and not all parties involved in discussions are begging for this deal to be voted in. A lot of members believe that this deal is not in their best interests and are considering cancelling their subs.
As for unsubstantiated conspiracy theories there are many unanswered questions, like why is the Union leaving it so long for us to actually vote on the deal and why has it been pushed back yet another week? Why does the union not have a plan B?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I think you have answered your own question there. There isn’t one.

There is no plan B, there won’t be anymore strikes and we won’t be reballoted for more action either.
People need to realise this is the only agreement there is no alternative. With the incoming financial loses and Thompson falling on his sword may soften some people to the deal.
I get the anger I’m not particularly happy with the agreement but at least it’s a start and if the company starts making money again then we will have a better bargaining position i the future.

How you vote is your own choice as to leaving the union think long about that as you will never get a vote again in who runs the CWU who is your div rep area rep and local rep. All these people make a union and shape the future of the union and the policy direction of the union and therefor the deals they make in our name. This is a case of don't shoot the messenger but democracy is all about holding those to account for their own actions in our name you have to be a part of that process!

I would humbly suggest that the business is already making money and the idea that the business is going into administration is very unlikely.
I'm not bothered about Simon Thompson or any of the other board members. What I'm bothered about is that its a crap deal and by signing this off we won't have a decent bargaining position in the future.
Many staff will have left the union because they feel that the union leadership have let them down from winning the ballot but not winning the dispute or will have left the job given the extra pressures.
Most of us have worked at the company long enough to know what direction it is going in and we are just kicking the can a bit further down the road. In just 2 years time the lifetime of this agreement ends and RM will force through even more unpopular changes because it has always been their business to run.

Never been a better time to get out now if you feel that way as plenty of firms need good workers!

I put in for VR but I don't think anyone got it at our depot.
For me real wealth is not money but our health and wellbeing and there's plenty of staff that have been on sick and struggling with the daily grind both physically and mentally. We have had revisions and plenty of duties that have been failing.
Whilst many say you have a start and finish time and just bring back what you can't manage, it's not always easy when managers are trying to catch you out and to try and conduct you especially as we scanning and photographing hundreds of parcels everyday, it's not uncommon for one to go astray. I've had two complaints from customers that have come in to collect their parcels but due to the auto-redelivery I was already out on delivery at the time. Unfortunately, we had run out of the new cards and I put the old ones through - so the customer wasn't even aware of the new process!

Well it is a half baked idea just to save some cash who whole place is haemorrhaging money at the top!

I could not think of a worse time to give up your right to union support. Imagine having no agreement nor the backing of the union. Good luck.

That's what happens when the Union put forward a crap deal that even they don't like. Considering the financial position and the fact that it is very unlikely that we will enter administration, having no agreement is really not the end of the world.

No agreement = even more changes being brought in. You might not like the deal, but having one is definitely the best option.

My gut feeling is that even more changes will be brought in whether we vote yes or no. Even if it's a yes vote, I have my doubts about whether RM would take any notice of the CWU when bring in changes

That is a valid assessment, but at least with the agreement you get the wage increase and lump sum.
