Re: Simon Thompson gone
Always the case. I used to be proud to work for royal mail. Not any more. How can you be when they tell you to take stuff out knowing you're gonna be bringing it back because the delivery has been made 2 hrs too big. And they're really not bothered as long as you alternate the bits you bring back . I tell the customers exactly how it is, not lying for them. God knows how Thompson can be proud of what he's 'achieved' ?

Re: Simon Thompson gone
It's good news Thompson is going, he is very divisive.
See what happens. I think the mood music will change at local branch level with today's announcement that Thompson is going, and I am sure the CWU Executive is aware of the dissent.
I think it will be close, but I am expecting a narrow Yes vote in favour at the end of the day.

I'm thinking the same thing, for every angry no vote there seems to be at least one apathetic, worn down by bullshit yes vote. I guess we shall seejahbalon wrote: ↑12 May 2023, 14:54It's good news Thompson is going, he is very divisive.

Re: Simon Thompson gone
Voting no would be a financial disaster for all postal workers and their dependents.
As John Lennon used to say " Give Peace a Chance "
We all want a quiet life, we have had enough of strife and suffering
A yes vote now makes sense. Let's Keep the Faith and support the CWU.
They have our best interests at heart.

Re: Simon Thompson gone
It's a bit sad the intelligence of Martin Walsh posted this thread as if it's a victory for the union, the agreement still stands and thompson has done his job, royal mail r delighted the pressures off them and now have the main man Williams to finish us off,I remember when Rico left and the mail centre was raucous, today nothing!! Says it all,sad times

Re: Simon Thompson gone
So he has been paid £45,000 a month to ruin our T&C and he will receive a further £289,000 to sit on his arse (why would he get another job) and then, get this, £50,000 to help him look for another job.woofwoof wrote: ↑12 May 2023, 12:52
· Simon will continue to receive his normal salary and benefits until 31 October 2023.
· Following this, he will receive.... £289,415.21, ..... in lieu of notice. These payments will be reduced by any alternative paid employment that he receives.
· Simon will receive ...... a capped contribution of up to £50,000 (plus VAT) towards outplacement support.
It's another world isn't it? I must have chosen the wrong coloured pill.

Re: Simon Thompson gone
Blimey. If I could resign and then get 6 months PILON, I'd bite your hand off.Following this, he will receive seven monthly payments, totalling £289,415.21, which represents six months and twelve days' pay in lieu of notice. These payments will be reduced by any alternative paid employment that he receives.
Strange that we can't afford sick pay, or a decent pay rise, or maintain decent IHR, and we can't afford decent pensions, and we can't afford decent VRs, but we can afford to pay over a quarter of a million pounds to a notable failure for doing absolutely nothing.
If he had even a shred of decency, he'd donate the lot to the Roland Hill Fund
